Cold Steel 2017

Some of those folders may catch my eye if they are prices right.

Knifecenter has prices, but not pics or descriptions last I checked. And if trends hold true their prices will be a few dollars higher than some others.

And I'll be honest, the Immortal has pretty much already been nailed down as my guilty pleasure buy of 2017.

The Immortal*? Psshhhh laaaaame. You're lame. We should all point and laugh at you.

Holy crap, me too.

Ha! If the SR1 wasn't quite so thick I would pick one of those up, too. Given the materials (and QUANTITIES of the materials) the street price seems really good, but a 5mm (or 4.5, description and specs disagree) thick blade with that grind is a bit thick for me. I honestly think it may be their take on a folding SRK, which is cool, but not quite for me.

Whats up with all the 4116 Stainless in 2017????

My guess? The Prolite won awards and sold really well. I suspect we're starting to see Cold Steel go the same way a few other companies have and they'll start to have more and more distinct high end and low end lines.

After all, think about the money they make if they can get one or two big box stores to pick up those 4116 knives.

CRKT's lineup had 4116 a lot too. Maybe I've just been ignorant to it but I've not seen/heard much of it.

It's the same stuff in low end Henckels and Wusthof knives, and I think it's pretty similar to the steel Victorinox uses. I haven't used it much, but maybe around the same performance as 420HC.

I had that same thought. Specifically for me, I am almost certainly going to pick up the Ultimate Hunter in orange, because that is a phenomenal knife, and to have it in high-viz orange is going to be a huge plus when I'm camping. Also, that Goldenneye in the drop point will most likely be grabbed up also. This is a pretty big deal, because these are the first two knives I've seen this year and thought "Hey, I need those in my life."

At first glance looking at the open knife, I thought the IMMORTAL the most stupid looking blade ever. It looked chopped off towards the point.

Turned out the pic didnt show all of the tip on my tablet. It is a lousy pic anyways.

learning of the Gladius shape, I like it way more.

The Drop Forged Survivalist and the Drop Forged Bowie caught my interest. Im tempted and will have to decide which one I like best of the two.

The Drop Forged Dagger doesnt really do it for me and the great looking Hunter has of course been carried over from last year.

The 1849 looks like it would be a pretty good pig sticker.

I have to concur with this statement. I cannot find any practical reason to buy the Immortal, nor can I imagine myself ever actually using the knife, but I still know I will own it at some point and be too embarrassed to pull it out in front of anyone.

I honestly forgot about the drop forged options. Given how aggressive the pricing is, I'll probably pick one up out of shear curiosity.

Agreed.
Im thinking, I might go for the Bowie.
Bowie, integral AND priced right - dont get much better than that.
