Cold Steel 2017

SR1, Working Man, Pro Lite Clip, and Orange Ultimate Hunter are all looking pretty sweet. Dig the new pocket clips and colors. Nice.

they really diversified their line up this year with the cheapest in krupp and some higher end stuff in s35vn, damascus, etc and some in the middle with bd1 steel.

None of the designs are calling to me.

Im glad they have more styles in the one piece drop forged knives and that they ditched the leather sheath.

those look like fun beater knives and they are in 52100 steel, looks fun

haha new Steve Austin knife, the "working man" budget folder in krupp steel

right on

Im actually surprised at the pricing, which IMO is hard to beat. Here are some of my fav and the $$ from Knifecenter:

Night Force - Damascus with laminated CF handle only $240 - This is made in Italy according to the descriptions
SR1 - Hugh chunk of 4" S35VN for $150
Golden Eye - The "eye" looks funky, but the size is perfect for me. S35VN for $115 is a steal. Not quite sure about the carbon fiber version yet, as it's $85 more than the G10 version.
Immortal - At the risk of being called a mall ninja, this is my fav of 2017 offering. We have heard of a folding gladius since last year. It's also a great price at $120.

BTW, also new info about the 4 MAX, from the leaked picture last week, it looks like it will be manufactured in Italy. Im hoping that it's Lionsteel.

I'm loving the integral fixed blades, particularly the Survivalist, and also the Frenzy, Immortal and SR1. The Pro Lite Sport models look somewhat interesting, as do the colored Finns and full size Tuff Lites. I also much prefer the darker earth tone over the previous lighter tan they offered.

Will be? These are out in the wild now, where are they being produced at current? I thought it was the US?

It is/was, but there was a leaked pic that had one with a Made in Italy stamp. If the change is for real I'm guessing it's due to the production and quality issues they were having. Their OEM screwed the pooch badly enough that Mr. Demko himself had to repair the lockbars on a whole run, from what I've seen.

Yeah the current one is made in USA, and they were plague by quality issues since the beginning. The latest lockbar debacle was probably the straw that broke the camel's back.
I think it's a good move though, the Italian(assuming Lionsteel) has proven manufacturing quality. Also a lot of new models from Lionsteel and Viper has great quality while being cheaper than the competitor with similar material. Lionsteel Kur is a good example, another one is the new Viper Fortis and Italo.

That new Bowie machete is a must have for me, I love it. I like the look of most of that drop forged lineup too, and the price is pretty sweet to boot. I'll pick up a Tuff Lite in blue(I've held off on a Tuff Lite till now, always had it under consideration, add in blue scales, and...yeah, it's time), probably a blue Finn Wolf as well, maybe the Pro-Lite too(probably the Sport, since I already have the clip point). Possibly an Immortal and Rifleman's Knife.

Also, I'll finally get an SRK since the new SK5 version is only gonna run $42, probably also get the Safe Maker and Counter Tac lineups, since they're gonna run $42 and $30 for the large and small versions. Always wanted both those lines, but they used to run $70-80 each in AUS-8, and that was more than I wanted to pay. I'll pay $30-42 for them in AUS-8 though.

Wow, I hadn't known that. I have had a chance to purchase one on a couple occasions, but it's just so huge that I keep waffling.

Best value if the price is similar to the LE Rawles Voyager

5.5 inches of CTS-XHP, DLC Coated blade, TriAd Lock and excellent ergos for $80? Only that big lettering kills it

Nice to see colours other than basic black. "Working Man" is just a colourful Pro-Lite. I like those Frenzies but they are a little big at 5-1/2"...

The SR1 is cool, more higher-end steel in CS's lineup, probably around $160 street price? I wonder why the higher price point on this S35VN/G10 blade as XHP/G10 models are available for much less.

I think the street price will change. The SR1 is listed as $150 in knifecenter, and the other s35vn model the Golden Eye is $115. I think the price will change after it's released for a while. The XHP lawman for example used to cost more than $100 when they were released, but now you can get one for $75+. Same with the Recon 1 series. I think the market will adjust as long as the dont implement MAP pricing..

They have posted a few pictures on their Facebook page so far.

I saved the pictures of the Frenzy for until I can get one.

Cold Steel is well known for their XL folders, so 5.5 inches for the Frenzy shouldn't be too surprising. The thing is with the Working Man, look at the full 2017 lineup, they are actually ADDING colorful Pro-Lites, so...not sure what the Working Man is meant for.

My knife bud Tim and I were talking about this the other day since we live in Cold Steel country (40 miles from Ventura) and have been to their parking lot sales.

Why don't they have these 2 types of knives.
Flipper, Auto.
Seems like they are kind of behind the times a little with out those. I have never asked them at their parking lot sale. I think I will next time 👍

Give'em time. They started as the first ones with XL folders, then they stepped up steel and experimented with AO some time later (doing a good job IMO)

The next logical step is that, a matter of waiting I guess.

They got rid of their balisong because balisongs were illegal in a lot of places and they decided they didn't want to keep selling them...since autos are also illegal in a lot of places, presumably that's why they don't make an auto as well.

Not a lot of interest to me personally, as I'm not really doing the tactical knife thing anymore, but it's nice to see a substantial number of new styles in their lineup. I've only owned a few CS knives but those I did were decent quality, and my most recent knife purchase, a Gurkha Kukri Plus, is awesome.
