Cold Steel 2017

I recently purchased Cold Steel's Pendleton Hunter in 3V (fixed blade) and I'm very impressed.

I also own Recon 1 clip point and Hold Out III, both in AUS8.

SR1 will be a must buy for me, Frenzy looks interesting, possibly Golden eye will wait for better pictures of it.

since autos are also illegal in a lot of places, presumably that's why they don't make an auto as well.

Yeah, I hear you but Protech's are made right here in So Cal too and 95% of what they make are all autos..many of which you can't even carry here.

Tell you what though, I love my CS Para Edge!

Best value if the price is similar to the LE Rawles Voyager
5.5 inches of CTS-XHP, DLC Coated blade, TriAd Lock and excellent ergos for $80? Only that big lettering kills it

Yeah this is only model that I'll probably buy

Yeah, ProTech doesn't worry about making stuff many people can't legally own and I don't blame them. But for whatever reason, Cold Steel has a different view on the issue, so I suspect we won't see an auto from them, at least not until autos become legal throughout the country.

That's my hope on the Federal level. Not holding my breath though. I think if that happened, CS could really stand to compete in the auto market.

I can't legally carry a large portion of their catalog in Texas. Nothing double edged, dagger/stiletto-esque, or over 5.5". They sell plenty of those anyway. I don't know why they'd balk at a few obnoxious auto laws when a large portion of their catalog is already illegal to carry in a large part of the country.

If they've chosen not to explore the auto market I'd bet it's more of a cost vs. reward thing than a legal one.

You can legally own it though. In some states, you cannot even legally OWN balis or autos. That is the difference. CS doesn't want to sell stuff that cannot be legally bought and shipped throughout the country. That's why they quit selling the bali according to their own statements, and presumably that's why they don't sell autos also, though they haven't specifically said as much .

That is one good thing about where I am. In California, possession is perfectly legal.

And thats probably only if they decided to make importation of them allowed. I could see them legalizing them across the board but make it illegal to still import them.

Just took a closer look and realized the product image of the 'Immortal' is terrible. A portion of the blade was washed out.

Drew some lines to show the actual blade shape:

I'm just not impressed with Cold Steel. I live out here where they are from and went to their "parking lot sale".
They had some stupid Honda or equivalent..and they were letting people slam a battle axe against it. Stupid as hell.
In the mean time, I'm looking at their offerings including a first ever spring assist model..I'm sorry, crap.
Cut my finger opening it. Never locked close solid and strong. In their defense, it was a display model but still.
Nothing like the feel of a Protech. They should take notes.

That...doesn't even sound REMOTELY like my experience with them. Sounds like user error being blamed on the product.

Ok well, the one I checked out at the parking lot sale (btw I have many years experience with spring assisted knives in general) was absolute junk. Several people there could contest that.
Probably the model which had a safety as well. My friend handled it and thought it was junk too.
I like Cold Steel as it was my first folder tanto and still use and love my Para Edge.
This one though was horrible be it the mechanism or the over usage as a display model.
I'll give them the benefit of the doubt until I can handle one out of the box 👍

I'd also say give'em a second chance. Like Dshiflet, my experience with their AO is and has been very positive.

I'm also kinda surprised when I heard that the Swift is junk. Other than the inherent design flaws, it's really rock solid like other triad lock folders.
Also not sure how anyone can get cut when opening an assisted folder, any assisted knife could have cut you if that's the case.

Sweet, this makes the blade profile much clearer.
