Cold Steel Chaos has arrived

There are also Bussekin mall ninja katana looking things.

You mean like this?

Works pretty darn well as a machete too. (but it's a Wakizashi looking thing, not Katana ;))

There's a practical use for many things out there.

I personally have no issue with it. I was just simply illustrating a point, based on his comment

Yeah, I figured that. :)

I personally don't get why so many knife people have such issues with the knives other knife people like.
And then they act confused when non-knife people "don't get it"...how could they? We don't even get each other!

As long as folks aren't out stabbing their neighbour's cat with them, I'm fine with pretty much any knife people choose to own.

Although it has absolutely nothing to do with this thread, I think the best part of the day that sword pic is from was this toad:

I like how it just sat there looking at us. :)

The logic, IT BURNS US, PRECIOUS!!!!!! LOL

Damn, spot on, man. Spot on.

Hey, at least this thread is ending on a high note!

The CS Chaos is an interesting knife. I found one last summer for $49.95 so I went for it. It arrived extremely sharp. A few strokes across my hone did nothing to improve an already very sharp blade. After honing it I threw it in my bag and forgot about it.

Weeks later there was a BBQ at my church. I was asked to help slice the cooked tri-tip. No problem but the church's knives were crummy and DULL. Had I known I would have brought my own knife. Just as I was considering the blade on my Leatherman, I remembered the Chaos. I may have received a few odd looks as I was slicing through the meat but I am sure thankful I had it with me. It did a superb job as a slicer...

That's nice. When I went to a church picknick they served hotdogs and macdonalds Orange drink haha.

So would this be a bad place to say that I'm ordering the tanto version this week? Also I like how the *idea* of a solid production trench knife gets everybody up in arms. Also how they're expanding the Chaos series this year. ;)

depends on the response you are looking for and if you are the type that only welcomes replies in favor of your choice. That and the fact that the last negative comment made about the knife was over 6 months ago. I personally dont care for the knife.

Lynn Thompson doesnt "have balls to market blah blah blah.....", he is creating products for people who, like him, live in a fantasy realm where such knives will be needed. Nobody fights in trenches anymore, and even if you did, almost any other fixed blade would be just as useful as the Chaos, but would also be able to stretch into the more practical realm and be used for other things than just CQC....

Several of his larger blades are just about the only ones that are standard issue in several US Special Forces units: You apparently are not aware of this because he was asked not to publicize this, and he didn't... Cold Steel knives are also among the most commonly carried private purchase knives by active service members: They work very well, and since stealing on bases is not unknown, losing a $60 knife is not the utter disaster that a wonder Busse would be...

You can bet the Chaos will find its way in many rucksacs as private purchases, and I'll even bet that none of the other service members will be laughing at it...

Thats why KABARs arent double edged with knuckles. Because sometimes they actually need to be used for something besides fighting, even though you could fight with one just fine

The "classic" KABAR has an inefficient low sabre flat grind, and an even more inefficient off-centered point with a deep belly near the point, ruining most of its combat potential... It also has a light blade with large grooves, devoid of much chopping usefulness... With a good glove you could potentially grab it by the blade and have a better grip than the wielder...

Just because the KABAR is a historic blade doesn't mean the Chaos is not a much better choice for just about any use: Even weight is about the same...

And no, I don't own a single Cold Steel...

Own what you want. Enjoy it.

Personally, not for me. Same reason as the argonne assault LB. I like the knife in design, but I don't buy knives I can't use. (I am not made out of unlimited money, and knives are a hobby because they tend to retain value pretty well if you buy quality, and they are useful.)

To each their own, however.
