Cold Steel Chaos has arrived

Nice constructive post there, I guess you're stalking me after that nonsense axis lock thread eh?
If you only want opinions you would like to hear then go entertain yourself in front of a mirror.

You must have me confused with another member. LOL

Besides I just posted my opinion about your post, maybe you should be the one entertaining yourself in front of a mirror. ;)

The design is single in its purpose - to kill.

The history of this design is easy to find and its design intent, it is not a tool or a defensive weapon.

As a knife enthusiast I am often up against the anti-knife standpoint of those socially conditioned to believe that knives are weapons and weapons only.
Trying to convince someone of that ilk that my edc knife is a utility tool is often fruitless.

This design of knife only reinforces their attitude.

So what? What about swords...tomahawks etc. ? If the knife/sword/tomahawk is legal to own where I live and someone has a problem with it based on an irrational fear of "scary things" that is their problem. None of us should have to curtail our buying habits simply because some uninformed twits don't like our choices.

EDIT: I did not close this thread.

I bought this as a last resort pig sticker and I must say. The steel takes an edge and holds it, the pommel is pretty much useless and the hand guard is too large. BTW I aint a big dude with huge hands but I'm pretty damn tall and I could never see a functional use for that big knuckle guard. If it were smaller perhaps I could use it defensively, but who the hell would ever carry this thing? Itll send you straight to jail if youre on the street and you dont have a damn good legit reason to be carrying it. Either way, Ive stuck a few boars with it and it gets the job done, great piercing capability and it sustains an edge through out the day with heavy use. Never mind people look at me all scared when I carry it. I just wave and smile.

I'll take this(pic) any day over that

If you going to do it then do it right.

This is sexy.

Maybe if it wasn't double edge and If the hand guard wasn't so dramatic. Honestly sometimes I like to choke up on the blade but I can't really rest my thumb on top of the blade now can I?

Pardon me, i could be wrong and this could get me banned, but aren't we all supposed to be enthusiastic about knives "in general" ..and over and over again I see on these forums a certain "elitism". "Oooh, that knife is UGLY", or "This knife is made by THE hottest maker on the scene right now".. . I understand not everyone is a big CS fan, i own a few of their products however, and one thing I can say is they're build solidly and sharp out of the box. I've yet to break one. Don't we have enough people criticizing our hobby with out us criticizing each other? If this is intended to be an "Elite Forum" for "Elite Makers" and people with large amounts of disposable income to salivate over every new offering, then in my opinion, you shouldn't allow us with limited funding in the door. You can all discuss "So and So's" or "So Co's" latest fantastic offering in wondersteel" over twelve dollar cigars and twenty dollar a shot scotch, but i'd wager there's a LOT more fellows like myself out there with a six pack of Bud light and a CS in our pocket.

It looks like a pretty. Damn good version of what it is intended to be. I'm not into the black tactical look, I even changed my black grips to rosewood on my 1911, but if TEOTWAWKI ever happened, I wouldn't mind having that on my side.
I'm trying to figure out the "it isn't a defensive weapon" thought process. The best defense is to go on offense. That knife makes perfect sense as a defensive weapon to me.
My couple pennies worth.

What i mean is, do you "poo-poo" EVERY knife under $100 or just the vast majority? because i see that over and over on here.

My comment was pertaining to the Mall Ninja part, which the Cold Steel definately SCREAMS very loudly. Look at it and if you don't see Mall Ninja then I would like to know your definition of it. I have no issue with Cold Steel other than I refuse to buy what I consider Mall Ninja. This is personal preference, not snobbery.

I own plenty of knives way under $100, Mora, Buck, Leatherman, CRKT, Outdoor Edge, Kershaw to name a few, what I don't own a lot of are $100 and up knives (I think maybe 5 are above $100) and it took me buying lots of sub$100 knives to decide that I personally was ready for better quality and style.

I've never totally understood the apparent loathing of mall-ninjary that often pops up. I get why members are concerned about people buying low quality junk, but I sincerely doubt the Chaos falls into that category. Personally, I don't need any more knives than I have, but I still buy new ones because I enjoy them. I'm not really under the impression that enjoying folders with boutique steels makes me better than a dude who enjoys movie replica orc swords or super-tactical war blades.

So, what then, if I may ask, is THE definitive look and style of the "Mall Ninja"? Does liking black and tactical automatically brand one as such? I see quite a few photos on here with tricked-out AR-XX's if that's the case.I don't think any of us with any sense are going to wear this offering to the local watering hole, that would be stupidity. But say, for example, that I was hiking in the woods, and I was accosted by a couple young males who had a story about running out of gas. Just me, and them. Maybe it's appearance at that point could be a PLUS in it's favor, of course, the same could be said of any large fixed blade. I guess what I'm getting at is..whether it's "garbage steel", a wall hanger, a $2K custom or a $300 auto, we're ALL here for the love of the hobby, the love of "steel". Maybe a bit less bashing one another..and a bit more brotherhood.

And for the record, I admit it, I get the BudK catalougue, and Smoky mountain, and kennesaw, etc. Makes excellent bathroom reading. I'm sure there are plenty of people who consider their stuff to be pretty cool if not outright bad ass,LOL..I would bet before we learned enough a LOT of us would fall into that category, if we admitted it. The hobby starts somewhere, for A lot of people it started there. And if it starts there, and then they come here, only to be treated like some fool out of school..well..as they say at the NRA, now that they understand this a bit better: "teach, don't preach".

1. To me this has "mall ninja" written all over it. (Has metal knuckles, shank-like double edge spear point, ugly as sin... No I wouldn't take the Busse either. I'd sell it and buy a practical knife... or 10)
and if it doesn't...
2. What practical use does this have?
3. why did we resurrect this thread?

I'd own it in a minute, I don't care if it is ugly. I don't even care if it's offensive to others. That's their problem, not mine. You can't go by sheeple who wet themselves at the sight of a Victorinox Classic.

As far as the scary items drama... The fact that the icon of the knuckle knife is so characteristic and intimidating is what solidifies the market for it to never go away.

As far as function, no question Cold Steel has made a sturdy design, and the grip is almost as secure as duct tape so dropping or having it smacked out of your hand is not probable.

I work at a pig farm BTW. Just saying. Too heavy.

This says alot about function because if you can't carry it, function definitely suffers.

Check out how heavy the grip is.......

I bought the knife, like many others before it, for the collection and for enjoyment. Don't hate.
