Cold Steel= flat out liars

tell me of a fixed blade better then a cs recon scout with 5/16 spine or trail master for strenghth an toughness?

The Becker or the Rat line come to mind, not positive of the spine thickness but I would put either line up against Cold Steel as far as toughness goes.

Part of that is personal preferance, I like full, exposed tangs.

Everybody that thinks cs uses aus 8a in their san mai core steel is wrong it is vg-1 witch is a japanese steel similar to vg-10 people even get those two mixed up do I even have to expain the differance between them??

He's a friend of the company and LT.

I don't think that makes him an employee.

He stated that he is a friend of LT, and that he is not an employee.

There is no reason to think that he's lying. He stands up for the company every chance he gets and , while I disagree with him, I don't think thats any reason to pick at him.

cold steel higher end fixed blades have full tang fixed blades and are much more heavy duty then becker in my opinion because they use better steel and are much more stout!! 5/16 is 0verbuilt lol

As far as fixed blades cold steel has them all beat strider would be the overpriced second choice off mine .I think the laminate steel is more pretty then camo finish what other company makes a clamshell edge!

What a strange question. What do you mean by "better"? There are so many companies making good, big, tough, sharp knives for competitive prices, we could list our own "better" all day. Personal preference plays a large role in deciding what's best for us, too.

The Recon Scout and Trailmaster made their reputation with knives manufactured by Camillus. We don't know yet if the new contractors are up to that level.

How much "better" do you think those Cold Steel knives are than comparable products from Chris Reeve, Strider, Busse, Ranger, Bark River?

I think of the tang on the trailmaster as more of an oversized stick tang than a full tang .

I've never used anything with San Mai III, might be great.

I'd take a 1095 Becker over a 1095 Trailmaster.

a clamshell edge

When Camillus made the CS Carbon V knives, they used the same steel as they did on the Beckers.

WHAT is a clamshell edge? Convex?

cs sk-5 high carbon steel has a rockwell of near 66 and they claim good toughness and edge retention unless they lie about it "can you prove it"??Even better then their OLD carbon v Oh ya some people think they stil use "cabon v "lol.

When I say "better" I mean overkill less chance of failing in a the catagories!

I also think cold steels disigns in fixed blades are much more attractive then becker like comparing jessica beil and the less fortunate.

not everybody can afford cs so they go to what meets their budget there is a knife out their for everybody in all price ranges.

They do have some very nice LOOKING knives. I much prefer function over form.

Beckers have a face only a mother could love, but I've never broken one in half while batoning.

That seems like solid proof to me.

EDIT: Nevermind, Deadhead Archer beat me to the punch.
