just went and watched that. I don't get the atlas lock. they got the patent on the tri-ad still. can't see not using it on every folder they make that they want to be the strongest lock. the atlas seems marketed the same as the tri-ad on strength, and yet it isn't better in any way. regardless.....Not too thrilled with the Atlas-lock, after I saw Gideon wreck-one! I know some people who have them like-them.
100 percent, jbmonk! If it ain't broke . . . . don't fix-it!!just went and watched that. The Atlas lock is Cold Steel's answer to more fidgety locks like cross bar locks, the Shark Lock, and button locks. The Triad lock will always be king, and I think it's fidgety myself, but alot of people don't think so. Some people still don't know that you can close a Triad lock one handed. Some people think the Triad lock is too hard to disengage, etc.just went and watched that. Lot better looking than the Engage, so I may grab one if I find a good deal to play with the lock. But I think something is off with the published measurements. It says the handle is 5.5", the blade is 3.5", and it's 9 3/8" open, which doesn't make any sense. If I zoom in on the picture such that the blade measures about 3.5", the handle is about 4.5".I've been eyeballing this knife. looks like a lot of handle for not a lot of blade. although its not a bad looking knife overall. I just dislike the para military spyderco lot 'o' handle not lot 'o' blade setups....
good catch...the lengths seemed odd to me, but I was too lazy to do the math......Lot better looking than the Engage, so I may grab one if I find a good deal to play with the lock. it's not bad. lockup of atlas seems good. no play in any direction. it feels and looks smaller than the measurements show. which can be good or bad depending on what ya like. a bit thicker scales and longer blade version I'd prefer.
good grab. It's thin but I think you'll like it. one of the few new designs cold steel did right, for what it is.....25% off labor day sale, checked and the satin one seems to be back in stock, so have one inbound.
Very intriguing. Got to stop looking at it.I had a good discount code, so grabbed one of these to see how I like it.......they only had black so that's what I got......
