yeah we talked about that somewhere in this forum and it not being correct. would make a silly long handle for the blade size.....and it isnt.

This is a weird Cold Steel. Like a titanium Bugout with a better blade and lock.

But the lock is also weird. I'll get used to it, I bet, but man, while I like the knife, I kinda wanted to like it better. The clip is a little, "clicky" when you set the knife down, but the knife itself doesn't rattle on it's own, if that makes sense.

I will give it some pocket time. I think I want a beefier version. But this is slick and sleek and locks up tight and all the good things so maybe I don't even know what I want anymore, lol.

Definitely a departure from the typical CS. Clip on mine rests on the scale, so doesn't click. That should be a pretty easy fix tho.

Earlier in this thread I mentioned that I wished the lock release had more traction. Today I used a triangle needle file to sharpen up the ridges, and it made a big difference.

Just ordered one of these, I can’t wait to try the atlas lock…. This is the best looking cold steel knife I’ve ever seen, and I love me some S35VN and titanium!
Can’t believe I haven’t heard of this knife until now.

My wonderful wife is getting me a Mayhem for my birthday. Completely impractical, but I do love me a chonker of a folder. It will be my first run in with the Atlas lock. If i dig it, this is gonna be my next purchase. While I do like monster knives, these seem more practical

Received today. So far, I’m quite impressed… and surprised it’s a CS. Sleek, sturdy, smooth action. Heavier than I expected but I really like the weight. Nice.

How is the traction on the lock release? On mine the "ridges" were pretty rounded off, so I used a needle file to sharpen them up again to get better traction.

The Kizer clip looks like it was made for this model. The retention is perfect, imho.

I saw your mod on the lock. I appreciate any mod that makes a blade your own.

I don't have that big an issue with the atlas as it is. But, it's kinda a technique thing for me. I like to use the side of my thumb where the pad is kinda meaty to disengage.

If I try to use my index finger, then yeah, I find it kinda sub-optimal. But even at that, I prefer this lock over the shark lock. Heat shields: DEPLOYED!

Don't know if I prefer it over the shark lock, but I wish it had the same traction...those ridges are perfect.

Mine are sharp enough. I do wish the dip was a tad deeper, but I get that would have probably been difficult in this form factor.

Yeah it's a very minor quibble on an otherwise great knife. Who woulda thought CS going against they're typical philosophy would produce one of their best offerings?
