Cold Steel Full Metal Atlas

Just arrived, and I love it! Maybe there’s hope for CS after all! My only nit so far is that I wish the lock release had a bit more traction, or maybe if it was just a bit deeper. My finger sometimes slips right off it when I try to release. While it’s nice that nothing is sticking up, I think the Shark Lock has a bit of an advantage here. But if it had sharper ridges like the Shark Lock it would be great. No blade play at all.



Compared to some others in my carry rotation. Really like how much less “bulky” it is than the Code 4 and GoldenEye, without giving up much blade length. It’s downright elegant!

I like the subdued billboarding on the Atlas. I wish they wouldn't put the giant bold lettering on their other folders :(

Don't think you'll be disappointed. I keep thinking "are you kidding me?" as I fidget with it. It's such a departure from the typical overbuilt CS folder, and I love that about it! Maybe not quite as fidgety as the Shark Lock, but damn I love this knife!
 
Mine arrived Saturday and went into my pocket the very next morning. It's an instant favorite. In my opinion, this thing is a home run for Cold Steel. The machining on the side provides excellent grip while avoiding an overly aggressive texture. The lock is easy to unlock and seems very strong when engaged. Spring tension seems better (a little stronger) than on the Mayhem, on my copies at least. Slim, light, and ambi. Tip-up carry only, however. It gets a "buy it" rating from me.

GSM Cold Steel needs more of these kind of products and less of the blister packed Wal*art junk.

One tip on the lock: Press down and slide back and there is no slipping on the lock. Just pressing back and your finger could slip off occasionally.

If it had more traction like the Shark Lock, wouldn't really need to press down;). Don't know how much they vary in production, but mine is pretty rounded off, so very little grip.

It's a fair nit to pick. The serrations on the back part of the lock (right side in your pictures) are too shallow. Hopefully they can make an adjustment to correct that. Mine looks the same as yours and I suspect they all do.

You use your thumb? I was using my index finger, holding it such that no fingers are in the blade path. Thumb works pretty good too, as long as my index finger is far enough forward to stop the falling blade so it doesn't cut.

naw I use index finger too but a fat thumb toe pic was easier to find for the meme.....
 
GSM shipped mine quickly and I have no complaints buying from them direct. Sign up for their emails and they send periodic coupons. Now if something had gone wrong, I’d probably sing a different tune.
 
This knife is too good for page 3. I had shown mine to my BIL a few weeks ago, and my sister just texted me asking where to get one. Not sure what the deal is on this one, but still only seems to be available directly from CS.

It’s a great knife that many are sleeping on. As far as I know, it’s a website exclusive. See if you can find a coupon. I expect another coupon soon for Black Friday.
