It seems like there are some counterfeits being sold.

Does anyone have one and do they only come in G10?

Thank You

All g10, g10 with ultra lock and liners, aluminum with ultra lock

Would you mind sharing the model number so I can keep a eye out for one when I can afford to buy?
I'm not a big fan of all G10.

The ultra lock models have been discontinued for a few years now. I had an aluminum one and currently have the newer G-10 triad lock model. I gave the aluminum AK-47 to my lawn care guy. I like the newer one better, the blasted finish on the aluminum handle models blade developed rust spots easily and the ultra lock made a scratchy noise when opening and closing.

Being discontinued is just one more reason to try and find one to collect. I thought I read they made some out of titanium.

I don't remember what the old number was. But like "twid" said they have been out of production for a few years. I didn't have a problem with the lock, but the blade did get some rust spots on it. I assumed it was my fault for taking it fishing.....

I found one and it is "Out of Stock". So let the hunt begin

This is the model being counterfeited from China. So I will keep a eye out and think about it.

Thanks for the info. I did a search for "Cold Steel AK-47 Aluminum Handle with 3-1/2" Plain Edge"

That's a lot of work for a counterfeit. I feel like I need to search for one now. lol.

EDIT:

I saw a few pics of the fake. It's close enough that I really had to look at mine. Find an original if you can, It's a good knife. I like the ultra lock. Simple, easy one handed. Either hand.

Cool knife.
I hear wonders of Demko's Tri-Ad lock.
But the knife's mall ninja appearance + Lynn Thompson silly marketing make me say no.
Also, for $70, you only get AUS8, crappy coating, and made in Taiwan... No thanks...

I would recommend checking out our catalog archive if you are going to explore older discontinued models
You'll find the product specs as well as good photos to use for research and comparison.
If there's specific information that you need I will do my best to help you.

"Also, for $70, you only get AUS8, crappy coating, and made in Taiwan"

* You actually get Japanese AUS 8A (with our heat treatment - which is pretty darn excellent), American G10 and Taiwanese assembly. Made in Taiwan doesn't really cover the whole picture

As for "Mall Ninja" :D
...I've been called a lot worse

Have a great day

yep aus-8a holds an edge about as long as s30v at 58.5 rockwell and vg-10 it's very good steel. It's funny when people say its crappy steel do youreself a favor and go the review section and look at the steel review where someone actually took the time to test steels (thanks ankerson)instead of go off of what they heard someone say.

Thanks,

I Love my Cold Steel knifes. In fact I just finally got a X-Large Cold Steel Espada with Polished G10 Handle yesterday. Unless you hold and use one your comments mean nothing. Along with my Cold Steel Ti-Lite TITANIUM, plain and black blade Cold Steel Scimitars, I have no complaints at all. They are very solid, collectable, and awesome knifes. This Espada scares me just looking at it. The Scimitars sound like your racking a 12 gauge when opening, And the Ti-Lite .. speaks for itself. Best liner/frame locks I've ever seen.

As for mall knifes. My daughter is a Muti-Manager of these types of stores. She has learned from her Dad what to look for and she has been the owners go to gal for years when they go to the shows to buy there merchandise. She tends to pick out the stock that sells out first. I'm not saying they are anything I want, but once in awhile she will give me a nice gift from one of her world wide shopping trips.

I'll keep a eye out for one, and look over the info you sent, but for now, I just want to figure out a case or bag to put this Espada in to keep it pristine but ready to go if needed

Thanks Again !

P.S. Are there any of the Cold Steel Spear Point Triple Action Knifes Available BNIB?

I wish the new AK's incorporated the thicker blade stock like the original ultra lock models had. It was at or over 4mm IIRC. The first series of AK's were total beasts.

The tri-ad lock is very strong, But I miss the ultra lock.
"Mall ninja"... You almost can't win on that as a designer. It either looks like something on the market, Or it's "different" and gets labeled as mall ninja. Neither is good.
Also made in Taiwan. I've got Spyderco's made in both Golden and Taiwan. I hate to say it, But the fit and finish on the Taiwanese models is better.

AUS-8... It's no super steel, but it does the job and it's easy to sharpen. I will admit that I have become spoiled with higher end steels. It would be nice to see some models in the CS lineup with some better metals.

Machete sheath?? lol!!

Knives bro, it's knives. Knife is singular, knives is more than one knife. ;)

I was thinking a tube sock until I can find something better. This knife is perfectly centered, no blade play and having the lock back makes you have to take your time closing it. Probabley a good thing cause I could see loosing a finger or two if not careful.

I haven't seen any spear point Triple Actions in a VERY long time.
We had several tanto point ones at the last Parking Lot Sale but I think they sold fast
Sorry
