Cold Steel Knives AK-47

For me. Hardly, Ive had a few including the cryo for instance and lets say , the spyderco tenacious. Both of these knives got scary sharp, But lasted about what seems about 80% as long with a useable edge requiring far more sharpening daily. The aus 8 on my AK keeps a useable edge a bit longer and seems to be tougher. Ive used it to cut through just about anything and have yet to see any damage to the edge. I have used the blade to unscrew and repair pool and sump pump drain plugs at work lightly. The cryo and tenacious both bend and distort very easily. Which is better than breaking. But I sold both as they could not perform as i needed. But opinions are like u know what and everybody has one. That's just mine. And this is a workhorse steel. Coming from a non fan boy first time cold steeler.

I haven't seen any spear point Triple Actions in a VERY long time.
We had several tanto point ones at the last Parking Lot Sale but I think they sold fast
Sorry
I was just looking at my spear point one when I saw this post..lol
It's old but still solid as it was new.

I've carried and used both Kershaw knives and the Tenacious regularly(there are, for me, better EDC options than anything CS makes), never had any of them bend, chip, or break. And cutting up cardboard boxes, my Spartan and my Voyager dulled just as fast as my Tenacious did.

I was looking for a triple action spear point but went for a all serrated Tanto instead. The spear point is not legal for me to carry here. They are getting harder to find and their value keeps increasing. Do you know what they originally sold for?

Then go troll someone else's Thread. Or start your own thread.

Sorry chief, this isn't a fanboys only forum, it's for discussing CS, and that includes expressing the opinion that there are better EDC knives out there. Stuff like the Rajah 2 and the Espada and the Talwar are awesome, but they're much bulkier than anything I would want to EDC, even the smallest versions. Combined with the pocket shredding texturing/clips, and the fact that after MUCH experience with both steels I find their AUS 8 to be no better than Kershaw or Spyderco's 8Cr13MoV, I will buy CS for the fun factor, but not for carry(unless a situation comes up where I'm wanting to carry a knife for self defense or something in which case yeah, XL Voyager, or Talwar, or Recon 1 for example would be awesome choices.)

I think they had an MSRP of around $150 but I would need to look through our archives and double check for you...

Thats alot of negative. Not sure what all that has to do with anything. Others including myself have been contributing to the thread. When you seem to just like to get the last word and reply against others opinions. I agree no fan boys only but, id rather not see annoying pitter patter. Or am I just adding to it? Im not sure. Perhaps you need a sharpening lesson, then you could see the difference between the two steels?? My whole point originally is theat I do not require super steels. And that the pre disposition plays a big factor. I had alot of love for my tenacious which I preferred over the para for the price. It just didnt cut the cheese. And the lock is far superior too.

I am trying to find another Cold Steel AK-47 Aluminum Handle with 3-1/2" Plain Edge ASAP.
My daughter, who shares in my knife hobby, saw mine and is now wanting one for her upcoming 30th birthday.

She got very excited when I told her I would do my best to get her one. She doesn't usually light up like she did after handling this one. She really wants one now that she got to hold one. I think she will use it as a boot knife.

If anyone knows where I can find one, I would appreciate any leads to find one soon.
Thank-You

That looks like a counterfeit
Check out our catalog archive for pics and specs of discontinued models
I'd advise caution when searching ebay...sadly, there are a lot of fakes out there

I just got a LNIB Aluminum Ultra Lock AK today in a trade, more as a toy/collector/maybe a work beater than an EDC. If you're really looking for one, we could probably work out a trade. Shoot me an e-mail at noah4806@gmail.com

Email Sent. My daughter stopped by unexpectedly and fell in love with that knife right away. I probably should have had it put away cause she will inhert mine but, she turns 30 in a few days and I'd like to get her one and see the look on her face. It's pretty cool having this interest in common. We have fun with it.

Is there a name for the axis type lock on it?

Thank You

Cold Steel called it the Ultra Lock. In the AK, the blade goes all the way around the lock, clean and cool design.

I know where to find one of the old Recons, but I shall keep quiet 'cuz I have my eye on it myself. ;)
