Cold Steel Knives - Welcome

Don't be afraid, you can tell us your name. Very glad to see you guys on the forum. Ignore the haters and focus on those who are glad of the diverse range of products that you offer. Good luck and welcome to the forums as this is supposed to be an exchange for products, ideas, and information. My support for blade forums and other organizations is not just to protect our rights but mainly to ensure that an unbiased medium exists for all those with an interest in cutlery and all of its aspects to learn as much as they desire.

Welcome Aboard indeed! About time you guys got here! :D
I own a number of your products and have always been pleased with them....even carried a few on my deployments. I met Lynn Thompson in Tulsa at a gun show way back when...he struck me as a very decent guy....he even gave me a further discount when he found out I was military (this was before 9/11!!)...

Would love to see you bring back some of your early models (from the 80s) complete with leather sheaths!

Not sure if you guys at Cold Steel read this forum before you came on but you probably couldn't have started out more wrong if you tried. You have a core group of Cold Steel haters out there that I am sure broke out their bug-out bags and guillie suits when they saw you open a sub-forum. Their goal was to lie and wait until you made a mistake so they could pounce and prove that Cold Steel was an evil giant corporation headed by old "over the top advertising" crazy uncle Lynn! You made it too easy for them!

Blade Forums is not the place to have a cold distant "top down" type of advertising approach. Everyone here knows the Cold Steel website address so a "pinging type post" directing the masses to the site every now and again will yield little results. This is a place where people that like your products and are passionate about blades in general would come to get "closer to the company" and feel as though someone was listening. They want to talk "to" Cold Steel, they want to give feedback and make recommendations about products not hear a dispassionate sales pitch. To come on and have the companies Moderator say that you don't plan to give your name was a dream come true for many! ( Richard = Dick... Get it??? )

As someone that loves my Cold Steel blades and looks forward to your presence here on Blade Forums, you may either want to re-think the name thing or find someone else in the company that would "enjoy" being the Moderator. And as someone else said, its not like anyone was asking for your whole name, address and SSN, just a way to communicate. Was your plan to have people say; "hey Cold Steel guy?" To expect a warm friendy welcome with that statement is a bit of a stretch don't you think?

Cold Steel should have a chair at the big BF table here, here's hoping for a good start. There are a lot of us here that appreciate your products.

It's nice to see CS here. I started out on the Cold Steel Forums, which I see is still going strong. I own some budget CS items (hawk, machetes, shovel, thrower), all of which have not disappointed me. It would be great to see you guys bringing some manufacturing back to the USA.

I'm glad CS made it to the forums. Some people harp on em, some people consider their advertising over the top(well, I kinda agree there, but I don't care about ads, I care about blades), but I like em. I'm a fan of big knives in general, I like big fixed blades, machetes, swords...that sort of thing. And while lots of companies make those kinda products, I also like collecting big folders...and CS really shines in that department. And they're good blades to boot.

LOL, I never got offended by the ads, and I'm not one with a big sense of humor, either. I found them entertaining, and they set CS apart from the others.

Well, the ads don't offend me or anything, but you gotta admit, taking a knife and demoing it by having it slice through a side of beef wearing a leather jacket is a bit over the top, lol.

Sorry, no conspiracy, no drama...I just don't share my name online.
Most people just know me as "CS"
Not all of our staff like the limelight ;) :D

I'm very happy to be here and I look forward to talking to people about Cold Steel. I have other roles and responsibilities within the company and some of my work requires anonymity.
I've been known as "CS" for so long now that I actually answer to it when people shout it across the office :)
Please don't take offense to my obscure nickname. I am excited to be here. No offense intended
As for haters - well, I just got here. I hope they can show a little restraint when dealing with the new guy

I have no problem with your name being CS. Most people here have some nickname, screen name, or whatever you wanna call it, such as "shortwinger" or "powernoodle", and very few post with their real name. Glad to see you here!!
