Cold Steel products YOU want to see?

For some reason, CS no longer makes the 4" Voyager Vaquero. I love mine as the ergonomics and lite weight are awesome. I will probably buy one on eBay or elsewhere with the plain edge since I have one with a serrated edge.

I would also like to see some 'tweener sized knives - a 5" Ti Lite, a 4.75" Voyager Vaquero, etc...especially how some states (not mine) don't allow 6" folders. I think CS is missing out on a decent sized market share by not compromising on the length of their knives. It seems the blades on some folders are a little too small or way to big.

I was going to opt for the 6" Ti Lite, but after seeing a vid on YouTube, no way - that thing is huge and is almost 14" long when deployed, not to mention the weight.

As for steel, I don't have a problem with AUS-8A. It scores a 58/59 on the Rockwell Scale which is just right. My knives hold an edge, the serrations do not chip even when abused and I have sharpened my Ti Lite to the point where I can cut long, thin spirals of paper.

The thing that makes CS a great value is that they make their knives overseas, use Japanese AUS-8A and I think the Japanese know a thing or two about making swords and quality steel cutting implements. Nothing wrong with AUS-8A except for perception.

If CS starts using higher grade, more expensive steel and make their knives in the US, then they stop becoming a good value knife maker.

Cold Steel is successful and has a strong customer base because they make a great product at a great price.

I'd rather spend my money on reasonably priced, quality knives and use the money I saved from buying 4 or 5 knives Cold Steel knives on a firearm.

I still might buy the 6" Ti Lite Zytel though, and perhaps one day I'll add the XL Espada to my collection but it will go in a glass display case.
A 16 3/4" knife weighing in at one pound might be a bit much for EDC, and I would cry the second I got a scratch on it.

My next SD purchase might be the Beretta Pico, although it's only currently available in .380 - Make one in 9mm and I'll start saving my pennies.
I've had my eye on a California Seecamp for a while, but they are in short supply and very expensive, but a great little concealed carry firearm.
I wish Kel-Tec would make a California version of the P-32 - Under 9 oz.while fully loaded with 7+1 rounds. And if it gets confiscated or if I have to dispose of it in a hurry, it's not a huge hit to the wallet.
Just put a damn Safety on it already!

I would like to see an Espada 2.0 upgraded with the VG1 San Mai III or better steel, reversible pocket clips and lanyard hole. For fixed blade, a 9' or even 12' Tai Pan would be awesome.

More carbon. They're using SK-5 and now O1 on their knives, why not offer some of their folders in one of these steels? I could really dig a 4" Talwar in either steel. How about offering a slightly nicer SK-5 or O1 version of the current Krupp line? Imagine a Roach Belly or Pendleton Lite in uncoated carbon steel with a walnut handle and leather sheath. [/drool:D]

I also would purchase a Twistmaster, if they were offered once again. I appreciate my Opinels first and for most, but would enjoy a CS homage to the age old design.

OSS thumb dagger in the FGX series and a straight trailhawk would be nice (had to grind my last two purchases)

I saw a discontinued blade a while back, a double-edged Katana, with the spine edged sharpened up to the half-length fullers. Bring it back, pretty please?

Ditto! I'd love to see them bring the Twists back.

I always had a soft spot for the Country Classics. The Ozark Hunter or stockman version would be great. I would like to see more uncoated blades, specifically the Lawman or Recon 1. AUS 8 is pretty good, but 154CM or S30V might be a little better in a "premium" line.

Offer your best sellers in premium steels. Give one a try, I bet that it would be a hit!

They really really need to bring back the LTC, and I would LOVE to see them start offering some Full tang versions of the big chopping blades with G-10 or Micarta handles.
Big market for it and there are a few CS blades that with those changes would be darn near unbeatable.
I want a carbon steel SRK again too ..lol

A thinner and more pocket-friendly flavor of the Voyager series, more akin to the old style Voyagers. Deep pocket clip. Same steel, and same price. I don't favor "better" steels that jack up the price. Price is a crucial component that draws me to Cold Steel.

How about an updated Caledonian Edge with a smaller blade for more comfortable carry. And I'd like to see a new SISU with textured handle. The old one was beautiful, but it was slippery.

I want to see a Tacticle Combat Cane that can actually be used for a cane also. The horn should be a non-lethal point or flat edge that won't cut or penetrate at all so nobody could say it's lethal. I would aslo like to see them offer the new bushman sheaths for customers that already own the knives.

I'd certainly like to see a G-10 Voyager, also in better steel. Know that they're dabbling in O1, maybe offer it in some of their modern folders, like the lawman, recon, and voyager. Old school, meets new school.

I still can't figure out why they changed the Voyagers. The older style was great. Very simple, and comfortable, and it was a knife you could pull out just about anywhere, and nobody would pay attention to it. I don't think the same would be true with the new design. IMHO they should have left the Voyagers alone, and brought out the new design as a different model...

Obviously some others do as well, because the prices have gone up, on the old Voyagers.

I'd like to see the Mini Outdoorsman make a return as it was almost ergonomically perfect and the length made it great for rural or semi-urban EDC. That was my first good fixed blade and I saved over the course of a summer doing odd jobs for it at the age of 13. Man, was I ever happy and proud of that one; it went almost everywhere with me and got beat on for years before it was finally stolen by a guest passing through town in my early twenties. Many blades have passed in and out of my small collection since then but few are remembered as fondly as that Mini Outdoorsman.

Couldn't agree more. That tacticool black coating cheapens the knife's looks imo. The recon 1 is a great design and so is the voyager. I would like to see the Recon 1 with a voyager clip blade. G10, liners, triad lock and a blade out of D2. AUS8 is okay imo, Spyderco used it for years and it's pretty tough but it is not the best either.
Regards
Shike

Well, looks like part of my wish came true, Voyager clip point in a Recon knife :D
