Cold Steel Trail Master Aficionados Thread

ive had many trailmasters come & go, only have one left. always liked it from day one. i always wanted to see what i believe would be the ultimate version ; an imperial trailmaster like the tanto damascus & tai pan version.

I have two of the older Carbon V "Made in USA" TS's. One is a workhorse the other is a safe queen. I also have a Laredo and a Natchez as I like all the CS Bowies.

I really enjoyed seeing your collection ashtxsniper. Very neat! :)

Here's a couple pics. Bottom is old ricasso type. Sheaths are Southern Comforts. There's been tons written on performance comparisons between the Carbon Vs and the SK-5s. Carbon Vs are preferred, but performance of SK-5 is not far behind. Carbon V holds edge a little better.

The bottom one is just like mine except mine is convex grind.
I'll do photos tomorrow night.

Solicitation removed. Please check the sticky at the top of this form. This particular forum is for discussion and is not the place to buy and sell knives.

It would be better not to quote these types of posts. :D

you need to post a thread in the "want to buy" subforum in the bf exchange. it's free even for registered (non paying) users.

I guess the release of the Taiwan made Trail Master has been
pushed back to late summer. I'm thinking of
ordering a M Tech copy as they look as good as the real thing
in pictures(they are about $40. Does anyone have experience with these?

The Nachez bowie and the Larrado both look great.

I just had a bigger chopper, and the CS trailmaster went to some one who would keep it working.

I've got one old model with the kraton handle and one with the stag handle/leather sheath. I've worn the stag to a couple cowboy events and it gets as many compliments as some customs I've worn.

Hell yeah its a great blade.

I have two TMs - the SMIII and the SK-5 (China) which I got for $95 from NGK. Great deal. I whale on the SK-5 and its doing great. Sharpens up sweet with a Sharpmaker rod.

Sorry, no pic of the SK-5 and SM together...

BigFattyHog, what are those two knives in the bottom smaller pic? those look interesting...

Which one is that? Is it the Chinese one? The guard looks crooked now.

.

It's not, at least what you can see from that angle.
It's one tough knife(I had my doubts at first, so I pounded it and I'm no weakling), edge holding and all. I put it in a 45 pound weight
and bent it about 30 degrees, I've never seen knife take that kind
of punishment. Batoned it with a mallet, and did some slashing drills on
a piece of plywood, and with all my strength tried to break the tip. I even pounded on the guard with a large piece of wood. It didn't want to break.
Well worth $25. I'm just stating the facts here, usually if you say something
that can't be refuted by the facts, the groupthink on this site takes over, and you are called a "troll", (try it for yourself and find out.) :) I am ready for the attacks. :D

By the way, buying this clone made me want a "real" Trailmaster
even more and I will buy one as soon as the Taiwan made models come
out this summer. Nobody even thought that buying a clone might make
you want to buy the "real" thing even more afterall. So, buying a clone in
my case is bad for the manufacturer of the "real" deal? You don't have to answer that, but I believe the word "troll" will come out a few times. :D
Maybe a shootout between the real deal and M Tech will be warranted.
I'll try to make it as scientific as possible. :)

I just wanted to say that many on this board have contacted me as to
how to obtain one of these for themselves. I have tried to answer all
e mails, if I haven't I will get to you shortly.

yerscattergun, listen up.

This is a thread about the Cold Steel Trailmaster. There are times and places for threads about other knives, even trailmaster-shaped other knives. This isn't it. Take it somewhere else.
