Has anyone seen Cold Steels anti Mick Strider ad? Now I don't care what Mick Strider has done in the past. I buy knives on merit, if it's a good knife, thats all I need to know. I've owned a couple of cold steel knives and for the price have been suprised at the quality. It's been almost ten years since I've bought a Cold Steel.
If you look at Cold steels fighting knives, thier G.I. Tanto looks alot like a Strider. In the desciption of that knife Thompson pretty much claims that it's as good of a knife as the Striders. I find it hard to believe that Cold Steel could make and sell a knife for under $30 that Strider sells for over $300. Ok all you in the know, what is your opinion on Cold Steels G.I. Tanto?

Welcome to Bladeforums! :)

You ARE late to the party. We've been, umm, discussing Strider this and Strider that for a while now. Go to The Good, The Bad, The Ugly! and you'll find 3 or 4 major wars involving them.

Also check out BladeForums.com Service and Support forum for instructions on how-to, specifically Sticky: Search Engine FAQs & Tips by Quiet Storm.

You don't need to search though. With a new website, it's a good idea to browse around, get a feel for the place, see what's being discussed, before jumping in.

Not to pick a fight but it's this kind of talk that makes people NOT want to post at all.
If you don't like something on the radio, change the channel. If you think somebody is an idiot for what they posted, consider that maybe you'll look like a jackass if you run them in the ground. I love coming to this forum and reading about and discussing knives, but when I read a post like yours, "dude" it makes me want to log out and go read the news.

You're like three months late to the party, dude. Here's an good idea for the new guy, search before posting.;) I bet this thread gets locked within an hour.

Hello,

Sorry I have been off for duty reasons. I just made a short visit on CS' website and ... I discovered that LT has deceided to enter the Warpath again!!!:o

No logical explaination can be searched for this. I guess it's a question of season's change  !!! Spring is known for eruptions!!!

This time, LY is attacknig Mick STRIDER. I remeber that several years ago he did the same with Ernie EMERSON. But this sort od agression stopped rather soon (law action against CS and LT himself, may be, may be not???).

Just like you, I make my choice for knives on what I see and handle. not on a knifemaker's past - real or supposed to be real.
A Special Forces' past or military past is rather often mentionned by makers. But it will NEVER make my decision of buying a knife or even change it.:D

So AGAIN, LT has started a sterile polemic :jerkit: . And it won't bring anything to anyone in the knives addicts' world.
May be it won't even deserve his compan.

Take care,

Bob

Don't people know what the search function is. First posters, my a$$. These people continue to try to start crap.

Wingchun, I'll give you benefit of the doubt but this post looks alot like others.

Giving the benefit of the doubt, I'll address a recurring theme -

Poster asks "What about this knife, why the heck is it so expensive, is it any good?"

I think these posts are a genuine attempt to discover info - and not using search says " I'm not internet/forum trained yet, help me out." Plus the poster wants to motivate responders to answer, so the aggressive tone. There's one on Busse's out there right now, same pattern.

A polite summary answer and link to how to search usually will do, and defuse the ones who really are trying to stir it up. Then the thread dies, rather than going on for page after page after page when the agnostics pile on.

What we don't need is another flame war about how much better Busse folders are compared to Striders, it's so obvious.

That's what I provided early on, only to have someone else ignore it and go on a rant. What happens is people read the first post and reply, instead of reading through what's been written so far in response.

That's just poor internet skills.

Where did I do anything other than state a fact? Where did I attack or call the OP any names? I offered a word of advice and provided a link. What info have you provided?

Have fun reading the news, dude.;)

Sorry, sorry, sorry, don't know what else to say. The only access I have to a computer is at work, they really don't like me going online. I've never had a chance to become familiar with forums. I've only used a computer for writing reports and such.

That said ,I'ld like to say hello to everyone. :)

Really , I didn't want to ruffle anyone's feathers. I guess I could have asked my question better. I just want to know what people think about cold steels GI Tanto. For the price It would make a great beater. Does look alot like a strider. I would like to have a strider someday, but paying bills and food and clothes for the kid comes first.

So what do you think about cold steels GI tanto?

Sorry and thanks

Personally, I would look into a CRKT or Kabar fixed blade.

wingchun74,
Welcome to BF, dude.:) I didn't mean to come off like a jerk in my first post. I was just trying to give you a little insight. As far as the GI Tanto, I wouldn't ever buy one, not just because it's made in China, but because of who it's made by.

Regards,
3G

Welcome to the forums. You dont have to say your sorry to anybody. I however, would like to apologize for the attitude that you got for asking a simple question. I have never had the cold steel GI tanto. I've had a couple of Striders and they are a good knife. And the Cold Steels I've had have been excellent also. As far as the doing the "research" WINGCHUN74, its really a waste of time as it turns out to be a total war that goes on and on, page after page. Even if you were familar with the forums here, reading all that crap would take more time than its worth and even if you spent the whole day reading the "research" you would forget what you wanted the infomation for in the first place. I wish I could be of more help. Take care and I hope you stick around, if you arent already turned off by now.
