Cold Steel Vs. Strider

Right on Keith! I was about to do the same just to find out if I could take it on a backcountry trek this summer.
I owned an srk years ago and was impressed by almost everything about the knife. Sad to say that someone else must have liked the knife as it just vanished out of my backpack in my closet.

At this point, I wonder if it's vaporware - every time I check, it's out of stock.

Next date available is 4/30.

That sure is one slow boat from China.

LOL......I haven't done any shows yet as I have not been forging for all that long. I will be a spectator at both Blade and the Paris show.......this year.:D My first shows will probably be the Florida Knifemakers Association show in October and the Gator Cutlery Club show in February of '08 in preparation for what I hope will be a run at my JS stamp at Blade '08. But i may bring a teaser from the October batch to Paris IF I can get it through Her Majesties Customs AND onto the Eurostar or the ferry. I will be entering the EU through London this time and staying in Dover for a few days before crossing the Channel.

Hi Joe

just a fyi .. you can't take knives on the eurostar .. you have to check them in a while before and pick them up the other end... you may have to wait a day on the other end .. this service will also cost you about 20 - 25 $ .. i would box all of them up into a single box and then check it in...

let me knwo if you are in london beforehand and i'll stand you a beer . or see you at sicac :D

Yes, it is vaporware. 4/30 is the date it will become available. No one has seen it yet -- no one here anyway.

I've never deliberately torture tested a knife before, but they do have to be available to do so -

It would be a serious faux pas to not get them in stock.

The "message" about Strider may have had a higher priority than selling the allegedly comparable knife.

Thomas, you're not suggesting LT actually posted a knife for sale he never intended to have available?!?

I can't believe for one second he would stoop to that, considering the amount of potential expense he might create for himself committing a questionable act of commerce.

Heck, the first 5000 in country will get purchased by certain owners salivating to post pictures of it cut in half with their originals. It's a guaranteed sell out. I'm thinking of getting a dozen to use as tent pegs - even military camo net pegs can be destroyed in the Ozarks, and these have nice tie off holes and free cord.
