Cold Steel XL Espada: That's bleedin' HUGE!

What a bunch of sissies...You can't carry a folder with a 7.5" blade?? It doesn't have to go in your pocket...You could carry it inside your waistband.:).

glockman.
what are you doing off the kershaw page!!??:D:D:cool:

Cold Steel offers what sells. That's the nature of business. P.T. Barnam understood the principle well.

I'd be interested if they had a larger version.

This isn't exactly the same but it is bigger.

I gotta get one of their catalogs. Best (reading) entertainment out there, IMO. So, they made an 8.5"-9" long (closed) folder, and copied the WAVE principal, with standard G10 scales, all in the name of the Conquistadors?

I'll make sure I have the hip waders & a shovel nearby when I get the catalog.

thx - cpr

Yes. Is this a problem?

You really can't appreciate how big one of these is until you see them in person. It's almost jaw dropping, comparing the image on a screen and then actually seeing it in real life - you just don't expect a folder to be that BIG

Economists like to say "more is better"
Or
Non-satiation

If you can get a knife with a 7.5" blade
Why not get one with a 8" blade???

Consumers ”maximising utility”

* Utility derived from preferences, described by preference order, indifference curves or utility function?
* Assume diminishing marginal utility and non-satiation
* Constrained maximisation: budget line
* The last crown spent on each good should give the same utility: marginal utility of good equal to price.

Anyone know how to say "more is better in Latin???
I forgot the phrase

I got a Voyager Clip point XX2 recently. 6 inch blade in PE. Don't know what possessed me, couldn't let a cheap one (new) escape me in EBay. First thing my wife told me when she saw it is "Why would anyone need something like that!"

The Espada is really way too big to be practical. If you flipped this in public to cut some boxes or apples then it'll be a free trip to the lockup in my country.

Yes. The pocket material in the pants worn by Conquistadors would have quickly deteriorated after only one or two "wave" openings of the XL Espada. Not to mention the fact that the Conquistadors' pants would have started to sag due to the knife's weight. It would have also been painful for their horses, having that large handle slapping against their sides as the Conquistadors rode off into the sunset.

i hate to say it but after seeing a friends Spanish knife collection, the Cold Steel knife is pretty tiny., almost penknife sized in comparison.

The question of why you would need to carry a "pocket sword" comes up.

Random catering!

How many times have you been asked to dice onions, julienne peppers, and prep some chicken or pork away from home? Most of us don't run rampant with out knife rolls and better cutlery (my Larrin Thomas santoku is literally locked up when not in use), so a "pocket sword" makes for a handy substitute.

Nonsense. Why do you think they had slaves? Indian and African slaves were cheaper than horses and sheaths.

Lynn Thompson was on crack when he set the MRSP. What sort of idiot would pay that for a chinese made knife with cheap steel? Has got to be a mall ninja who just watched the "Solid Proof" B.S DVD!

Actually, a Taiwanese knife made of a perfectly serviceable mid-range steel. I've already seen them available for preorder for $220, which seems a far more realistic value for such a knife.
