very cool stuff, I have become obsessed with headhunters in general, they made the most awesome weapons .....will post here in a year or so when I get a gang of dayak mandaus and kalinga axes

There may only be two but they're both great examples.
When I worked overseas I carried a little skeletonized version of the one on the right- local guys who asked to see it just nodded very solemnly and handed it back...Is that one Berber?

Glad you asked. :D

This here is a Millennium-3 Khukuri, a very special run made for H.I. in late 1999/early 2000 to commemorate the new millennium. Made by the master Bura, of course. Here are a few more photos. The brass handle, fullers, and engraving are amazing.

Wow, talk about a blast from the past:
Well, here it is:

The Millennium Special Khukuri -- to be made by "Bura", Lal Bahadur Bishwakarma, the Royal Kami, and his son, Prakash. All engraving to be done by Bura.

21 inches in the Gelbu Special style. Blade thickness about 1/2 inch, width 2.25 inches, estimated weight two pounds. The reason for the 21 length is this: 3x7= 21. 3 and 7 are prime numbers. 3 for the third millennium and 7 for days in week plus lucky or auspicious number.

Blade will be marked Millennium 3 in English. Three roses will be engraved on each side of the blade. The word "Peace" will be engraved on one side in English. "Santi" (peace) will be engraved on the other side in Devanagari.

The blades will be numbered serially as MS 1, MS 2, etc. and will be distributed according to log in list. First to sign up gets number one, etc. I am taking no. 13.

Handle material is optional -- wood, horn, or engraved brass -- please specify! Engraving on brass handle will be "tashi dili", taken from Tibetan Buddhism symbols. No choice on engraving and it and the brass handle will cost an extra $50 (also includes brass handled karda and chakma with engraving.)

Well ain't you the wicked quick safety man, I just now thunk up that very same idea. 14 is much too young and I'll forget your birthday Philll, I'm sorry I suck at dates. I'll also forget where it came from so your probably better off sending it to Ndog. He has closer to a full functioning brain and just might remember to send it back to you when your of proper age, say 60?

There aren't many metallic handled khuks from HI. That piece is truly CLASSIC. Great score Phil.

You musta cemented a few dates in your brain! Your still Mr. bawanna! I think 60 is when dementia, alziemers and amnesia and hmmm... i forget what else sets in. he might not get it back due to medical default.

Well I can attest to all those things. There is a difference between dementia and Ahlzeimer's but I can't remember what it is. Drink plenty of milk and amnesia won't be an issue.

I found this nice set of Old Hickory knives at a thrift store last weekend. I paid $20 which probably isn't much less than they'd cost new, but I liked the wooden stand. I'm going to put them outside as my BBQ knives. They blades are in good shape and quite sharp, somebody took good care of them. The handles were dried out but nothing some oil won't cure. I may remove the patina. Something grosses me out about using a kitchen knife with somebody else's patina on it.

I've always loved the looks of the old hickory knives. I've been keeping an eye our at myocal antique shops for a set.
