Combat dagger (custom?) Suggestions?

I can speak of personal experience. I awoke one time sweating my butt off because some jerk stole my fan while I was sleeping. And he also stole my nice Zippo lighter and my last cigarette. I was going to smoke it after I woke up. I think him stealing my last cigarette pissed me off more than anything else. Just the principle of it.
But anytime you get a bunch of people together you are bound to have one thief in your midst.
That is some scum right there, wow, what a way to wake up!

Im a fan of busse and the beautiful fmv8 but honestly you dont want that. Edge is too thick and obtuse, cuts like shit. Id recommend an rmj raider or the cpk uf2 of which was designed by I think a green beret or seal. Good luck young man, you got this 💪🏻

I will carry it when I deploy, but in all likelyhood I'll just use it to open mres or letters:). I want it to be something I could really beat on if I ever needed to though. That's why I'm interested in the FMV8. I need something tough and a maker who will stand behind their product.
You want a knife where you won't snap the tip off opening crates and cutting straps and prying on stuff. I would suggest a Tanto of some type. It'll still stab through a lot of stuff and the tip won't break off very easily. Also, a good multi tool. Good luck on your hunt, that's the best part. ;)

What's the difference?

It determines the knife a bit. So if you are going to buy one but not really get to use it. Then you go a bit cheap. Scratch that itch then move on.

If you are some sort of super soldier. And have really thought it out. Then maybe go a bit more specialised.

There is an Australian ex Commando who is mad keen for a defensive dagger as part of his military load out. And has his own signature version that is very expensive. Not my jam. But he has been doing it long enough to make his own mind up

But as a lot of people have said. Most military frown on murder knives for noobs.

It was a joke, I was saying what's the difference between combat and Arby's :p

I don't know, a well made knife like that Carothers up in the beginning is quite satisfactory.

Let's face it: what we like: isn't always our wisest choice...
The Gang here has given you some GREAT advice.
Good luck in finding the best possible useful knife: that you can!

That's a good looking blade! And quite a bit less than a busse. It's a little smaller than I was thinking, but mabye something more compact is a better idea. Thank you!

This is the 21st century, not the 12th. Daggers are silly toys for people who fantasize about knife fighting. If you really are concerned about self protection get a handgun.

Sorry, someone had to say it:rolleyes:

As others have mentioned- Carothers UF2 in D3V steel. It's something you'd actually use and it would serve you well.

Mixed inventory, mix of 15 6" Utility Fighter 2 and Kepharts. Delta 3V Friday 22nd.

Here's the description and where they get posted for sale.

Here's the CPK Forum to watch the Next Sale

I figure they'll issue him a sidearm, after Basic. This seems more like an "I want to have it" kinda situation.

Personally, I think it's going to end up getting stolen by a squaddie, confiscated by a Sargent who doesn't like somebody having better gear than him, or sent home for safekeeping after it spends too much time taking up weight and space.

But I'll never discourage somebody who wants to purchase a BAK!
