Coming Soon -

yeah, the fellow said that 3 lalmas could carry out an elk and the gear in one trip...
well see... gotta get the elk first...:)
this guy is a PRO... no doubt about it... 67 year young wildlife biologist... a hardcore 'old' fellow... been around the world...
you should check out BCHA... i was very imprest with last weekend...
you have horses and such, right?...

Dude, the guy I packed llamas with wouldn't allow more than like 50 or 60 pounds on them. Maybe he's the crazy one.

I was wondering how that event was. I don't have any stock, yet. My dad has horses. One day I'll get a nice little spread and my own horses.

Operator, you better hurry up with this shootout before this thread digresses further. Beards, stock animals, country music...what's next!?:D

sorry i spelled it wrong;)
well, it depends, from my understanding... granted, i have NO experience with llamas... he had 3. he said that two of them could carry up towards 100lbs apiece...
he also had a smaller male that he said he never loaded more that 80 on...
what he told us was that he could go back with 3 llahmas and all his gear for a few weeks... bring back an elk and all in one trip...
trust me... this guy knows what he is doing... check out 'traditional bowhunters mag' and check out BCHA... the guys name is greg munther... he is a baddass...!

Wait, so you can carry 280 pounds on the three llamas? How's that enough for an elk plus gear?

well, on the way out, you also carry YOUR stuff... on YOUR back... we are talking about lightweight stuff here... not the 'kitchen sink'...

ive never done it... with llamas, but i believe this fellow... the numbers do add up... i (we) are lightweight campers/backpackers anyway... my wife and i spent our honeymoon in the bob marshell... hell, we were in there there the week before our wedding... 15 years ago;)
point is, we are thinking of getting a couple llamas. so this is a good oppertunity for us to find out if they are what we want...

the wife and her best friend were actually over at 'eagle cap' for a week last fall...

I was over by the eagle cap for that fishing trip I just went on. I did a 50 mile backpacking loop in the eagle caps. That's where I used llamas.

she said that there were alot of people over there...
they are going to the wall this - late summer... she is going to do some scouting while they are there;)

I see this road has gone straight down hill.

Weather permitting this all goes down next weekend. 2 day test. Photos gallore. No looks, grain structure, etc. All about work.

The GB I have is on shorter handle - 32 I think - I will have to remeasure. It feels good and looks good. The BD is of course 36 in handle.

I will do felling, bucking, splitting, and misc tasks, and yes that means I will beat the shat out of the poll to see what happens. I have some metal pipe that needs pounded into the ground for stakes around my fruit trees - that should work well.

See what happens.

Let the beard growing commence. I will have to shave my goat off though to get stuff evened up. When I grow a beard I look like the Nicholson from The Shining - right before he loses it.
