Coming this Spring - KA-BAR Becker BK40 Folder

I was super excited to see that Ka-bar had finally, FINALLY made a Becker folder! The day has finally come!!
But I, like most here am very disappointed in seeing the steel used, the wire clip, and more importantly the Made In China stamp. Ughh...

With that being said...
There is A LOT that I like about the knife. Ethan and Ka-bar knocked the overall design out of the park! The blade shape and scales look very appealing.
I can only hope Ethan and Ka-bar can turn around and get this thing Made In America with a good steel. Myself along with most Beckerheads would buy one or two for sure.
And I know Ka-bar has been making tons of their folders overseas, but this one shouldn’t be. It doesn’t represent the Becker brand.
Will selling a value folder bring a new market of customers to Becker/Ka-bar?... Perhaps, but I still think we need an American Made Becker folder.

Sorry, not interested! My excitement was short lived. I think it was said in years past that we weren't going to get a broken Becker. Now we have this release and it's not even announced by Ethan himself. I have no interest in knives made of aus8. I'd rather have edge holding over ease of sharpening any day especially in a folder.

*Snark/ With Ethan being way out in the Country, now...…. He might not even Know that kabar even did This? haha ;)

-Interesting to note that there Hasn't been any talk yet in the Kabar subforum?

I’m left wondering; did they really think this would be received well?

I think an incognito release would of made sense.......

Probably a recent graduate in their marketing department made the decision?.....haha or not

Click on thread that says "kabar becker folder". Cool!

Knife looks good. Nice blade shape. Tweener handle. Blade says "Oleans, NY USA". Fantastic!

Scroll down to check the steel and other specs. AUS8, not great but I can work with that. MADE IN CHINA! But the blade says USA! What the hell! This isn't what a becker should be!

Yet another offshore produced blade with low end materials trying to capitalize on a brand name. If I want a budget Chinese made knife I already know there are much better high value options....

No thanks.

Interesting! It would be nice if KABAR would chime in with a correction so we all can feel a little better.
If it’s made here in the U.S. very Cool  It’s a great start to better Becker folders in the future.

I do kinda think the plan is this to be an entry level becker folder and if all goes good, theyll release a more expensive becker folder, albeit, a different design. A budget becker folder and then a premium becker folder(probably still not usa made...).

Junk by any other name ...

Not a useful way to introduce someone to a quality brand. Aside from the logo, what does this thing share with the rest of the product line?

pretty sure that's just their standard blade etch because it's where kabar is based and the country of origin will be marked elsewhere on the blade.
at least they learned from the mark98 not to accept the lowest grade of chinesium alloy for the blade.
Looks like they even have a different blade etch for the lowest grade chinesium alloy :p
