Comments on this year's BF Knife Process.

I think you handled everything, including the attempted Paypal sabotage, like a champ. You deserve a break and I can understand why you would want one, however, I hope this does not mean no more TC Barlows in the pipeline.

I do not have any other constructive comments - there are none needed - I do not think anyone could have handled it better.

You may be gettin' a little old, but, way too young to retire from designing those great SFO's. ;):)

I also have to say for those that, so far, are respectfully complaining of the cut off, I believe this was made plain, if you read through the pages - to get your orders in sooner than later. Any time you have a limited production knife, experience has taught me to get in line and order fast if you want to have the best chance of getting what you want. I believe that there would be a bit of complaining at the end, even if it continues on to 400 or so. With that said, I hope everyone that wanted a knife gets one. ;)

This pretty much states it for me also.
Huge thanks to all involved. The response early on made it clear to me that 300 would likely be surpassed, that's why I made arrangements with a friend, Lin Rhea, to order ours together.
I can't wait to get it in hand. My budget only allows for so much and there are so many knives I would love , including Eric's Jack, but I have to choose where those limited funds go. This year's forum knife is such a bargain that it was a priority.

Charlie, another idea could be that us Johnny-come-latelys pay an up charge for GEC to provide stag for our knives.

If I had a nickel for every time that I've thought about how painless Charlie has made this years forum knife, I'd have a lot of nickels.

Thanks for taking the helm, Charlie. I'm sure you have a few more gray hairs to show for it. Let it be known that is was very, very much appreciated.

A BIG thanks to John Loyd for his generous stag contribution and to Dave for his polling and follow up. Thanks to most of the BladeForums members for realizing this was a community effort and working towards that end.

I think the way it was run should be a template for future years endeavors. I hope we can find someone next year who can do half the job Charlie did.

Three cheers for Charlie!

^^Here Here^^

This was my first forum knife experience and I couldn't believe how amazing it went.

Thanks so much to those involved!!

Thanks for all the compliments folks.
An embarrassment of well wishers! I never would have had the confidence if Gary and Frank, Dave and John, didn't pledge 100% backup!! If I forgot anyone (I plead age!) I thank you too!!
And thanks to Spark, who owns this Forum, for tossing me the reins!
Do him a favor, and pay for a membership (and get rid of the pop-up ads!). Running this annual knife was nothing compared to running this Forum!!

I have thought what I could do to help with such projects, being here in New Zealand makes things pretty darned hard, but I do my best to support

Like the others have said Charlie, with what you have on your plate with the amazing TC's, then to take on the Forum knife, and then Erics knife - its simply an amazing job that you have done, and the very good thing here is that everyone knows this, and feels this - I think this is what makes the difference.

Thank you Charlie, your an amazing person to have in any community - we are so lucky it ours and we are all very much the richer in knowledge, and I could go on a lot more Charlie, but I am very sure we all feel the same way - so a massive thank you for absolutely everything you do for us and the knife world.

Also a massive thank you to Mr John Lloyd, a very selfless man whos generosity is amazing, a talented Cutler who certainly doesnt have to do what he has done for our community, but he has donated his first rate Stag for our projects, and more than what we needed so we could have first rate choice for these fine knives.
Mr. John Lloyd thank you so very much if you are reading this, many times you are seen to be a very generous person - thank you Sir on behalf of all of us here in Blade Forums.

As to donations, I will be right up there first in line to contribute to ensure that Charlie would be seen right - as I am sure everyone else would - just say the word,

I'm only a few months into this forum so my words may not weigh that much but I thought the words Charlie wrote here deserve a second reading. I come to this forum sure to drool over the pics, learn about traditional knives, and hope to find a diamond in the exchange. But, what really keeps me coming back is the camaraderie, generosity of knowledge, and respectfulness of the traditional participants.

All those involved listed above, the mods for filtering graciously and fairly, and to Charlie I say thank you. I will pledge 10 as well to help on next years. To those who haven't gone gold help keep the greatest forum of knife, steel, etc going and go gold. That would be a great contribution in itself.

But what if you like your name listed in Purple better than Gold?

I guess I will eventually go gold, but, the timing is a bit tough after two forum knife orders and four Charlows ordered. :o

My wallet already hates me. :D

I'm one of the people who didn't get an order in ontime for this years forum knife. I guess I didn't pay close enough attention to the process and I assumed there would be enough to go around for everyone who wanted one (or 2). Its my own fault for not ordering sooner - the funds just weren't there for me and when I did have the funds the thread was closed. Anyways if there are more to be had I'll definitely be ordering one. Thanks for everyone who helped bringing this to life this year. It looks like it will sure be a great knife. ~

This year's process was remarkably smooth and easy. Seems like there were far fewer "sour grapes" comments, overall. I do feel for the folks who may have missed out on a knife this year. I'd be willing to pitch in a little extra, as well, to help find a bit more stag, if needed.

I'm already getting giddy waiting for our knife to be made. Yeah, I know it will be a while! :D I can wait...

No guilt or pressure intended by me, and I will assume, by Charlie in his original post. I understand the wallet woes due to this month as well. I think it was just a call to help support in the bigger picture financially and thought it was a practical approach some could do considering we mostly don't have the resources to do what Charlie and the others pulled off.

I'm totally the boss of my wallet.
Fortunately a much smarter and more beautiful person than me decides what goes in to the wallet for me .Its a good system.

Sounds eminently sensible! My smarter and more beautiful person does screen me a bit - perhaps not enough!!;)
