While it has been some time since I sold anything here, when I did I typically noted time-limits (12/24 hours because I have no patience) for people to respond/pay before I would move on to the next buyer, and "until you say/write 'I'll take' you don't have a claim on the knife'". It probably rubbed some people the wrong way and/or reduced the pool of prospective buyers, but sure reduced my frustration.

I just think it's only right to give the seller closure so he can move on.
Move on anyway. If there isn't a clear unconditional "I'll take it" followed immediately by communication and payment, don't waste your energy on it. If there are other buyers move on immediately. State all this in your terms and stick to it. Of course, if you need the money and there is only one potential buyer, you may need to put up with a certain amount of tire kicking but remember that if they are unsure of a purchase before they get it, what problems will they find to justify not being satisfied after? These people aren't worth the headache. Just ignore them and move on.

I run into this in my business. For some people it is just sport. Some want to see what the “real” price is or are pretending to be players.

Some are so warped that they think they automatically deserve a massive discount based on their wildly overinflated sense of self worth, which is usually based on their net worth. At the first hint of entitlement I show them the door.

Two have been hedge fund managers. Another owns 7 high rises in NYC.

Almost any small business owner will tell you that the more money one has, the harder it is to get them to pay up!

I've had a few tire kickers but I found their favorite tactic is to ask for more photos or a lower price which rarely ends in a sale. Either buy it or don't.

I'm really getting sick of buyers who won't just take a good deal, they want to rip you off.
A $245 cqi kapara in brand new condition and they won't budge from $140. Offer them $150 which is still robbery, but no. Happens again and again. Over $20, $10. Do they think I need the money for tonight's dinner? I don't understand their thinking. No conception of fairness to both sides of the deal. Although I did sell a knife last week and the guy wondered why the price was so low. How are you other sellers determining how to price your knives? I'm just curious. I'm talking about knives in mint, new condition in box. Thanks guys.

I will say it's a two way street and respect has to travel both ways. It's that simple.

We'd prefer not to have to get involved.

Not asking for your involvement. Just venting.
I like to think that I go out of my way to be respectful and respond promptly. If I shouldn't be posting here, let me know.

I wasn't posting because you asked for our involvement. I was posting my opinion on transactions on these forums.

And I wasn't addressing you or I would have quoted you. If you'd prefer for people not to post in the thread, don't start one. You seem unnecessarily sensitive.

I guess texting can give the wrong impression.
I just didn't want to break any rules by posting in the wrong forum. Not sensitive at all. Sorry if I came off that way. Have a great day.

Here's one. Haggle with me until we agree on a price, then say they have to wait until tomorrow to pay. "If it's still available tomorrow, I'll take it". OK, whatever. Next day he asks if it's available, I say it's his if he wants it. He comes back with "$xxxx and we have a deal", offering me below the number we'd agreed on. I told him no, thanked him for his interest. Then later he asked for my payment info, which I gave and then waited. When I asked when he intended to pay, he made excuses and tried to put conditions on paying. Then he wanted to gaslight me when I pulled the plug on the deal.

That warrants at least a neutral feedback if not a negative in my opinion

Correct, I can't leave feedback in this case.

It’s a flawed rule… if someone agrees to a deal and then wastes your time for a day, and ultimately backs out, they should have a consequence.

A agreement was made. Sure there wasn’t an official handshake, but still, I want to know who joe blow is so I don’t deal with them wasting my time down the line.

Taking this one step further...I sold a G-Shock to someone years ago. Upon receiving it he was "surprised" at how big it was and said it didn't seem that big in the pictures...lol, whuuu? Whenever I post things to sell that have a lot of technical specs I always list where you can get all of the information on that item. This person passive aggressively put it on me that I should give him a refund and allow him to return it. It had that feeling of, if I say no this guy will lose it and neg me so I just politely said pay for return, once received I will refund your money. In the end it all went smoothly but I still chuckle at someone being surprised a G-Shock is big. Some folks are built different.

Boru13 Boru13 Trolling? Trolling would’ve been had I finished the sentence with “except for you” but I didn’t. I’m unsure why you took such offense to it, but you did. I was simply making a point that my initial message was not price policing but educational in nature with an offer. Your coming back and issuing a warning for something that didn’t even offend the OP is ridiculous. Price policing would’ve been had I said OP’s price sucks and used a laugh emoji but I did none of the above. I literally educated and extended a legitimate offer to which the OP accepted. Then, I reply looks like it worked out for everyone and you issue a 10 point trolling deal? Is this what this platform really is? Y’all just lurk around and become judge jury and executioner to anything you deem unacceptable. I IN NO WAY meant to troll and IN NO WAY was price policing. Had I done that, the OP wouldn’t have accepted and would have become offended as that’s the entire point. This is absolutely unbelievable moderating.
^ FYI: I reported you, brad (and I'm assuming I wasn't the only member). You literally took a major crap in this seller's sales thread.

Perhaps the Mod's Boru13 Boru13 , can share your original self-righteous crap you took in this seller's sales thread, which thankfully they deleted:

^ Edit: Thank you, for taking the trash out.

On behalf of all the seller's on this forum, I personally want to thank the Mod's, for their selfless time and energy the spend, keeping this place running so smoothly.

I generally require a firm "take it" for a sale to go through. I try to price the knives slightly under the market's going prices for a quick sale, and avoid requesting for best reasonable offers. Any interest is ignored, except if it is a old listing for knives I may not have sold.

I understand this may not work for everyone, though it has solved most of the problems I have/had with tire kickers.
