I’ve been pretty lucky on this site with deals. My secret is the second I smell bullshit, I walk. Whether I’m buying or selling.

Developed a pretty strong detector over the years. Most guys I’ve dealt with have been straight up because if they’re not, I’m out.

I have gotten quite a few will you take $xxx, I saw yes then I hear nothing back. Meanwhile I have 2 other potential buyers on hold. Second one messages "Please let me know, I will pay your asking price". After no response from the first guy I contact the "I will pay your price guy" that evening, he replies 'are you negotiable?", (so much for paying my price LOL) I do say okay, what is your offer and he immediately replies he changed his mind. On to guy 3 who has messaged "I want it and I have the money". His response....."oh, sorry, I thought it was a different knife".

Just par for the course now days LOL

I may start including: price is firm until and unless I post a lower one. 🤠

You were more patient that I would have been with the second one. For me, once you say you'll take it, price negotiations are over. That's the main reason I pulled the plug on the one I mentioned a couple weeks ago.

I'm really getting sick of buyers who won't just take a good deal, they want to rip you off.
A $245 cqi kapara in brand new condition and they won't budge from $140. Offer them $150 which is still robbery, but no. Happens again and again. Over $20, $10. Do they think I need the money for tonight's dinner? I don't understand their thinking. No conception of fairness to both sides of the deal. Although I did sell a knife last week and the guy wondered why the price was so low. How are you other sellers determining how to price your knives? I'm just curious. I'm talking about knives in mint, new condition in box. Thanks guys.
I get told that every time I sell one, that it's too low. What really burns my bottom is when I hook someone up then a week or two later they sell a knife I'm interested in and they want to break it off in me. Totally forgot the awesome deal I gave them. I guess I need to start doing the same thing, even though I'm not wired that way.

Hvactech...

...I see what you did there. ;)

I'm happy to say that by far most of my deals here on the site, those that came via posted listings, (mine or theirs), or via PM, have been quite good.

I recently was contacted by a relatively new member who was interested in a custom knife of mine that he had seen an image of in a thread. He asked if it was available and upon my request made an offer that was very fair and required no haggling, neither on my part nor his.

Unfortunately, things have gone south somewhat over the past few years with the influx of individuals who seem more interested in flipping knives for financial gain than they are in the knives.

I try to deal with individuals who share the passion for the most part...and only those who have demonstrated a history of fair dealing with the community.

I've found that the buyers who ask the most questions, and want more and more pics, are the least likely to buy. On top of that, they also are the ones that will never get back to you with a yes or no. Had one guy this weekend who was interested in a knife, asked a bunch of questions over the course of hours, then didn't get back to me. I messaged him and asked if he could please let me know what he intended to do.
Hours later he said he decided he didn't want it.
Makes you really appreciate the people who'll just say, "I'll take it".

Why do people “like” the sales thread? If you like it, buy it!!!
Lol, exactly! I say the same thing when I get a "like".

I leave “likes” in sales threads I check out for members that I enjoy and post up good knives at good prices. They’re usually people I’d deal with. Sometimes I leave “likes” simply because the sale thread itself is proper with all info and good pics. Think of it as supporting your sale and hoping the deal goes well.

It replaces the comments such as “beautiful knife, GLWS, wish I had the funds right now, my gosh!, hey everyone I just bought one of these from Joe Schmoe and it was great”, etc, which are all against the rules except for in the knife-makers section. Since your butts get chapped over a stupid little thumbs up, I’m giving you both sad faces on your posts! Take that! 😁

Thank you for posting. I never thought of it that way.
My opinion- I would rather you post your positive remarks - I don’t mind that in my sale/trade threads.
Also, no chapped ass here, just wondering why people like , but don’t buy. That’s all.

Is it just me, or has the "like" option gone away for everyone else in the exchange subforums? Just now noticed it is gone, was hoping it was removed from the whole forum, actually... 🤣

Almost positive it was there this morning... Change just happened today perhaps?

They were removed by Spark at my request (with the support of my colleagues) in order to put an end to the near constant disrespectful use of emojis and reactions in sale threads...(which led to incessant reports and complaints from those who had posted the sales threads or others who took offense...and meant that we "supers" had to spend an inordinate amount of time on them).

Now it will no longer be a factor, and frankly, nobody needs to "like" a sales listing...imho.

So, if anyone has a beef, it's me you can be mad at.

Sorry, fellas, if there's any heartburn.

I was guessing... Can we just go the next step and take it off altogether? ;) I've HATED it from day one!

Works for me!

Sounds like it will lessen some of the workload, and I am all for that!

Yeah...it will make a big difference. You wouldn't believe how many reports we get because of them...many of which are frivolous...many of which are mean-spirited.

It was a long time coming, and Spark Spark has my gratitude for coming through.

Looks like I will be forced to go to reddit to express my love for my fellow bros bro prices.
