I tried several times to contact by mail the True North Knives website about his Striders backorder, but Mr Ostroff would't answer. Is this normal ? I'm a little disappointed...

Please move this does not belong in hall of shame. thank you...( reported)

Mr. Maxinigrad. Hall of shame members are nominated by Mods and approved by spark before landing here.

For what it it is worth Neil is one of the THE absolute best knife dealers on this universe you can deal with him with no worries.

well, I'm fine with what you say, and I'm sorry that my post came here, but 1) it actually did came here and the mod's did'nt put it away 2) I do of course respect the mod's decision, and they still can do what they want with my post 3) where does my post belong then ? 4) regarding Mr Ostroff, well, I thought the same as you, but that doesn' give an answer to my question. What is a the sense of a good reputation , if nobody's there when it comes to the point ? I'm just asking...

Overnight I had a minor issue placing an online order. Called on the toll free line, off hours, left a message and then called during business hours. Message had been received and acted on. Could not have had a better experience. I have bought from True North on line in past and had exceptional service. He attends a local knife show each year and seeing the products first hand is a treat. He is now my merchant of first choice. Tops for Reeves and Strider.

There are many reasons you may not have received a return email. There could be website issues, your email/s could have been erroneously identified as spam, or maybe Neil is out of town. Be patient, Neil is top-notch. You will never regret buying from TNK.:)

thanks for your good feedback. In fact I wanted to know if he will have knew stonewashed striders (blade and handle), so that I could order one from his shop, because the new ones (3/4 grind) are either black or striped (I prefer the stonewashed).
It's ok for me, if my posts and this thread are ereased , you answered my question. Anyway if somebody knows about the Striders, thanks to tell me !

Mail can be a funny thing and sometimes it can get lost in a Catch system that
looks out for junk mail, always a good idea to call if you've not gotten any response.

Neil travels a lot to purchase knives and go to shows. My bet is that if a message was left he will get back with you when he has the time.

Moved to a much more appropriate forum.

thanks for your answers and for putting this thread in the proper forum : it's not always easy to get the up to date information when you're outside the USA... in my case : France. There is no official Strider seller in France.

Neil is most excellent! He is fantastic to deal with. Like has been said, your E-mail could have gotten caught up in his spam filter. Try calling the toll free #. And consider the time difference too.

Hi

I am very sorry that there seems to be a problem with the communication- as others have pointed out, often emails get caught up in spam filters :: going both ways.

I am here and have not traveled since the USN Gathering in Las Vegas over Labor Day weekend. So, it is surprising that I may have missed your email- but, I am human and can make a mistake. Sorry in advance if this is the case,

I value my reputation very much and feel badly that you feel slighted. Let me get you the answers you need.

Perhaps you can identity yourself here with your name and email address, so I can search and check back and see if I do have your email on hand and I will certainly reply to you immediately.

Thanks to all of you who have posted here in my defense- I really appreciate it.

Best regards to all,

Neil Ostroff

I finally bought my SNG CC at Monkey buisness : very very good job, incredibly fast shipping, and I could choose my international shipping rate. Amazing. It's too bad they only sell Striders, because they are really professionnal sellers, in my opinion. So : I put this in the (very) "Good", here !

i have dealt with TNK a couple of times and imho they are great folks to deal with, no complaints at all.

So that people like us can buy knives with confidence from a man like Neil and NEVER once doubt what we pay for will be what we wanted and what we wanted will arrive. Whether the man is present or not his reputation stands like a granite marker for all to see.
If it is a certain Strider you want Neil can usually get it but to be certain give him a phone call instead of relying on E-mail.

hey, I do think Neil is great, I got all the answers I needed from him, he is for sure a gentleman, but I just wanted to add that Brady Miller from Monkey depot is doing very good job too ! I think it could interest non american buyers, who need to have some information about reliable shipping and so on.

I don't know if you ever gave Neil a chance to investigate the problem and resolve it as he asked you in his post.

I had a knife pre-ordered from Neil that took a while to come in from the maker. I was in no hurry but I just now got a phone call from Neil in Canada not only letting me know the knife was being shipped, but insisting on upgrading the shipping to overnight at his expense even though there was no need to and I begged him not to.

Stand-up guy? You bet.

I am sure he would have resolved your problem and taken care of you given a chance.
