Below my Large Sebenza is a new Mike Irie fixed blade that has a wharncliffish type blade where the blade is at a slight angle to the handle so you can still perform rocking type cuts on a cutting board with the full blade, but still has the point/tip low for fine detailed work without raising the handle high in the air at an awkward angle. For me...I'd love to see a Sebenza with this type of blade shape, bringing the point down a tad from the normal blades.

So what say you, vote if you have a Gold Membership, if not, vote by posting on this thread and make your wants known...;)

Thanks guys/gals,

Nice discussion Gary. I'd also like to see a Sebenza offered with a different blade design and I think the one you are suggesting would suit it very well.

Thanks, Michael

Dang, that blade looks just like the Sebbie blade flipped over and sharpened on the spine side. Looks nice.

Good eye there, I just laid them back to back and it's almost an exact fit...should be easy to implement then eh? :)

You'd think so.

A Wharncliff Sebenza...would definatly work. Just keep the handles the same or else I will need new G2 Sheaths . Ok they can change the handle by not milling the space for the clip..."clip..we don't need no stinkin clips !"....Now all we need is for this to actually happen :D

I do think it's an excellent idea to augment the classic Sebe Gary. It will be interesting to see what all the guys with tons of Sebe's think.., but it sure looks like a very marketable alternative to me.., and not particualry hard to tool up for..., great idea!

Just had a friend email me that I should jump on the opportunity to name such a knife...as...you ready for this...a GarBenza folder...hehe

Good play on words eh?

I do feel it's a very good utility style blade shape, not a true straight edged wharncliff but one that is still fairly straight edged.

A Sebenza with the blade you suggest wouldn't be a Sebenza. Why does everyone want to change a good thing? If it ain't broke, don't try to fix it.

Didn't say the other was bad, but an optional blade would be nice, not saying to replace the current lineup, much like they have the Mnandi and the Classic Sebenza, they are all nice but a lot of people do prefer a blade that has a lower point with a more utitility type blade.

Perhaps it would have it's very own name to differentiate it from Sebenza lineup...never can tell...

I think there are enough Sebbie fans out there that would jump at the chance to add another flavor of Seb to their collection.
Seeing as some will buy a new one just to have a different finish to the handle , wood inlay , unique , leather inlay , etc .

Hmmm...a Wharncliff Snakewood Inlay :D and the line for that one forms behind me G2 !:D

Variety in other than the handle material would be great .
I don't think CRK would ever drop the Reg and Classic Seb as long as it is selling , and I do believe they be a selling em ;)

G2 , thats a real nice knife!! I'd go for that. A little off topic.. I'd like to see a Buck 110/Chris Reeve with a blade like the Sebenza in it(S30v,Thumb lug, rounded back, etc)

If it had to be either one or the other, then picking the current blade would be a no - brainer. It just works too well. I really don't care for Wharncliffish kinds of blades, anyway. My idea of an interesting Sebenza option would be dual blades, one tanto and one drop point (classic style), or maybe one PE and the other serrated. Something along those lines ....

I don't see how it would be much of a problem to do a blade like that, after all there are Tanto Sebenzas out there. I just don't want to lose the current design, I like it too much:)
If there was a run of Wharnie Sebies, you could put me down for two.

Great idea, Gary. I would definitely stand in line for a Sebenza with the wharncliff style blade that you suggest.
