You guys crack me up. All this talk about a wharny Seb is just a pipe dream. The more you talk it up the more of a let down its gonna be when it doesn't happen. Hehehe...really, stop it before I burst. If you wanna wharny go buy a custom. Leave the Seb alone. If it ain't broke don't fix it. ;) :)

Whoa...

Anybody feeling letdown? :)
The new blade shape is awesome.

I have no business buying a knife that expensive, especially since I already have a Sebenza, but I'll sell every knife I own that I don't need and go broke trying. This is, literally, my dream knife.

Well....lets just say I am a very patient individual...;)

I reckon that I still am pretty patient as I was also waiting for the inlayed models and finally with my pennies saved up for the knife, set aside in a separate spot so as not to 'borrow' from it, I finally was able to pick one of these up, along with a nice box of bandaids from our favourite Pharmacy, thanks Annie :)

It is a very lovely knife, I chose the large micarta Insingo, smooth opening and of course locks solid, great blade shape, as I had imagined it would be. Great job to the CRK crew.

Not bad, almost 10 years to the date this thread started, pretty patient eh? ;)

Wow, a necro thread actually resurrected by the original poster, to follow up with the successful (and very attractive) conclusion to a thread after nearly 10 years.

I love the blade style, and am happy you were able to keep the pennies unspent until what you wanted came along!

Thanks guys and yes, it was worth the wait ;) here's a shot, also posted in the watch thread, but figured to give a complete look at the new addition to the family in this resurrected thread;

the large micarta Insingo along side my Sinn 656 watch, that's been with me for about 6 years now, love that watch :)

Now, when you get a knife like this, for the working guy it's a bit expensive, so, you think long and hard before you take that edge to a sharpening system, at least I did tonight ;) while it arrived fairly sharp, it could be sharper, most knives do arrive in this condition so not a big surprise or problem, as most folks will 'Tune' their knife to their own way of sharpening.

BUT, it still gives one pause, several actually :) before attempting to re-do anything on such a folder. But, I went ahead and setup the EdgePro and went about evening up the bevels, while they were mostly even, you can see some undulation along the flats, so with heart and wallet in hand, I taped the knife up and started right in. I used the magic marker trick to set my angle to match the ones that CRK put on, just needed slight finishing was all. Those of you that have an EdgePro or any system for that matter or even Free hand sharpening, the magic marker is pretty handy to see if you are rubbing that bevel in the way you really want to, a tip I just found, actually on a WickedEdge video, those look pretty nice too but I hadn't heard of them before getting the EdgePro, but their tip was to use one of the big magic markers and to not try painting the edge, BUT to just stick the the tip of the marker straight down on the edge, it'll cut into the felt tip slightly and will provide a nice even line on both sides at the same time, I'm not that good at painting in the lines anymore and this was a great tip for me!

SO, how did it come out? beautiful and really really sharp, bevel is about as wide as what it arrived at, but now it's all in one even plane from heel to tip, cuts great, makes me smile...and I did breathe a sigh of relief when it was over, always get nervous sharpening as anything can happen. The nice thing with the edge pro is as you get to the tip, just let the stone continue on and out, it will make sharpening that point very easy and clean, pointy is good :)

Thanks Boss, good to see ya, been a long time since Baltimore show eh? and things are pretty well, have our middle daughter getting married tomorrow, the youngest WAS to be married two weeks later, but fortunately ? she and he have postponed it until sometime next year, giving us a slight break whew!

I did remove the cord and thingamabob and replaced that with a leather braid and custom bead, which I prefer a lot more, easier to hook my pinky below the bead and help draw the knife from the pocket, plus having a bead with mammoth ivory is kinda cool in and of itself :) the knife is fairly light but solid, I do like it and plus being sharper now also helps ;) I'm traveling so much for the past year and a half I've not been able to make a single sheath, hopefully this will let up soon as I'd like to make one for this as well as I need one for my Swiss Army Tool...but, enough about me lol...

Glad to hear all is well. Glad your daughter gave you a stay of execution. :)

I've got an 11 and 12-year old (WV twins), and my 11-year old has a soccer tournament that starts tomorrow a 7am an hour away from us. I drew the unlucky straw and will be driving him and one of his teammates, so no cocktails to kick off this holiday weekend for me this evening (not more than a few anyway). That's parenthood, right?

Be well, my friend.
