I am mostly interested in tough\high edge stability\high grindability\corrosion resistant steels.I'm also a tough steel junkie, but I'm calmer now. Simple steels like 1055 (machetes and tomahawks),1075, 8670, 6150, 4340 (tomahawks) and 52100 are all I use now. Never chipped my Gransfors bruk American felling axe felling hard woods like acacia, neither my Condor Discord machete, so it seems like geometry is also a factor to consider.
Because I want maxium ease of maintenance.
That is why I like steel like low-temper Z-Tuff, INFI, AEB-L, 12C27M etc.
I heard that Bohler is developing a new low carbide(~2.5% niobium carbide) stainless powder steel, which is tougher than 3V and K890, much more corrosion resistant than M390, goes up to 60rc, that would be ideal hard-use no-brainer if it’s true.
