Recommendation? Concealed Fixed Blade EDC

Too many options to make a specific recommendation but, if it is weapon that you actually intend to use in SD against another person, I suggest that you choose one that is CHEAP and that you can easily replace, in case:

1) you lose it,

2) you have to dispose of it, or

3) it's confiscated in connection w/an incident during which you actually used it.

Yeah...avoid knives with traceable serial numbers as well...

KaBar BK14 is good but small. Consider the ASD Centurion if you want the ultimate evolution of the TDI form.

If somebody just wanted a sticking tool, a dirty Philips screwdriver is cheap, easy to explain, easy to use, easy to dispose of, and very effective. A skinny one will make smaller holes that are harder to find in the ER. Sepsis sucks. Otherwise, you want a cutting tool with a minimum four-inch blade, good penetration capability, and a comfortable handle that indexes without having to think about it. It should always be carried in the same place, again, so you don't have to think about it. A Kydex sheath is safer, but leather is quieter. Kydex or leather can also be used in the off hand as a distraction or impact weapon. If you're looking for something you can ditch easily, a belt clip is better than a belt loop.

After that, you're on your own.

But, I still think the Civivi Tamashii would check all of your boxes. Makes a decent utility knife, as well, at least for me. A bit of advice, depending on how you carry, I have read reports of the belt clip breaking when only the stock hardware is used. My guess is they're catching the sheath on a counter or something, and snapping the glass-filled nylon. Buy an extra T-clip for $5 or so, pirate the hardware, and use four screws to attach the clip. 100% stability.

This....

Also don't lock into what you Think you want to carry.
There have been some good suggestions.
You Will probably buy quite a few looking for the perfect option. Try them out

I carry exactly like you are asking.
I carry appendix 11 o clock.

*I've liked TDI for awhile. Appendix. I don't carry it now. Too small a blade.
*Clinchpik from shivworks is tiny, kinda a joke... Imo.
*I like model 1-7 style knives carried at 5 o clock, behind my hip.
*Push daggers carry Really good appendix.
Now I design, and make my own.... I usually carry them. Or other customs.

I think, where on your body you feel comfortable carrying, is More important than the knife....

I also think the sheath/how it functions is More important than the knife.
I've designed my own style which I find best, most comfortable.

Again, in my opinion. You should carry a longer blade than you would first imagine.
I'm 6'2" tall. I sometimes carry 7" + blade there pretty easily. Always over 4" . 5-6 perfectly.

In fact short blades carried there feel unbalanced and awkward.

Try a gryphon m10 it's about $100 bob terzuola design I carry as a boot knife during winter it's great I think it can only be gotten from cutlery shoppe

I'll recommend an ESEE 4 in S35VN. As a big guy myself, (6'7", 300ish), I have learned to appreciated a nice handle that doesn't feel like I'm holding a pencil. Since you don't have a length restraint, I would recommend bumping up the length some. S35VN is a good, all around steel imo.

As far as defensive tools go, a fixed blade in a proper sheath is vastly superior to a folder.

I normally carry a firearm IWB. If I'm traveling to states that violate that right, I swap out for a Pinkerton Lancer. Both the handle shape and the handle to blade ratio are optimized for a defensive IWB blade. I used to carry the production version by Kizer but I've since upgraded to this custom version, seen here in an EDC shot from a few days ago.

BTW, I've been wearing a Kore Essentials belt for a few years now. The ratchet system allows for finer adjustment than the usual hole spacing on regular belts. It also allows for quick adjustment. Carrying different gear, getting in and out of cars, or just not being as young as I used to be; I've really come to appreciate that. :)

I’ll second the Spyderco Ronin 2. I’m not big, 5’10, 156 pounds, and it conceals IWB for me at 4 o clock just fine. I don’t carry or intend a knife for defensive use really, but it’s size and shape lends to a great utility blade as well.

Please let me know if I'm wrong you want an edc blade not just tactical
So all the tdi, azeria, and purely tactical knives are out?
If that's the case I'm thinking of 3
1. As my first post the gryphon m10
2. Creely mako
3. Street beat/ subway/ bowie

I did t know what I was missing until I went to a ratchet style belt like the Kore until I got one. They have both dress and casual so that’s all I wear now. I appreciate all the input I’ve been doing a lot of looking and researching. I would have to say Stroup makes an attractive knife. I like the looks of the stonewash blade.

It’s funny you mention, “tactical.” To me a tactical blade is one carried outside the waistband in a kydex sheath on a gun belt or assault rig. Usually a 6-8 inch blade partially serrated d blade. Is that term, tactical in this community open to interpretation or is it by its use?

I'm gonna' step-away from a few of the traditional recommendations and share this...

I'm a 5'09" fat guy, and live in a Metropolis of about 1.4 million people. And, when I step-out at night to grab a bag of ice or can of Copenhagen, I stick an NAA PUG or Ruger LCP II in my pocket, a TOPS "Tex Creek" on my belt (*"Armatus Carry" sheath/beta loop/cross-draw), along with an RMJ sap (*"Nap Hammer") in my cargo pocket...

You're a big dude, and should have no problem concealing one of these Tex Creeks on your frame. If a short/fat guy like me can do it, it should be a non-issue for you.

As Crag the Brewer Crag the Brewer mentioned, the sheath is much more important than the particular tool, and Matt Braly (*"Armatus") makes the absolute BEST in my humble opinion.

Happy hunting.

I have a Kore Essentials, but much prefer the Slidebelts buckle system. Looks better and is a lot easier to use. Same ratchet system.
