Recommendation? Concealed Fixed Blade EDC

TOPS Cockpit Commander
It has an IWB sheath. If I can’t carry a pistol I often carry this in its place. I’ve been carrying it since 2007.

Another factor is that unless you're a sociopath or an experienced fighter, your societal Judaeo-Christian values will likely cause you to hesitate when the moment comes to use deadly force, even if it's necessary to protect you and yours. Smacking someone's extremities with a stick on the other hand is surprisingly easy for your morality to accept, when it comes to those who would do you harm.
Thanks for your honesty and let me preface my reply with this. We could all agree this is an Internet forum and I’m new obviously no one knows me and it’s easy for people to lie to play pretend but I can produce copies of certificates to a moderator here if requested.

I am a Navy veteran I served active duty for 4 years.
Local law enforcement 17 years and counting. I did 6 years on entry team on my county regional SWAT team. Orthopedic issues drew that to a close unfortunately. I am also a firearms and taser instructor as well as a field training officer.

So my Christian values don’t cause me to hesitate they cause me to realize that I love what I’m protecting more than I hate what I may have to kill. It also allows me to ask forgiveness for the horrible things I would do to those trying to hurt those people I love. There is a scripture as well as other articles from Christian theologians to show there is a difference between murder and killing out of self defense. Sgt. York WW1 is a good example.

Thank you for your response to my post as a baton such as an ASP or Monadoc may be an idea for some.

For conceal carry I use ESEE Izula 2s and ESEE 3s. The factory sheath is ok for vertical IWB but I buy armatus sheaths for horizontal. I have no experience with the Tops blades are nice but I absolutely hate the factory sheath they send you. I always buy Armatus for them. I also use Kore belts.

Thanks for providing a bit more background. Unless you're going at it from a threat display angle, I would stay away from anything too big, just because of the difficulty of deployment if someone got too close. The Ka-Bar BK-18 is pretty big and doesn't have a hilt, but there's enough of a front end stop so that it shouldn't be a big issue. For a bigger guy it's a big knife that doesn't feel large when it's in the hand. The ergonomics are great, especially for large hands, but I'd still swap out the handle scales for some Micarta if I was going to regularly carry it. The Ka-Bar TDI Investigator, mentioned earlier as a good "GTF off me knife", would be a sensible choice for when someone's gotten past your guard.

How well the handle works in your hand is going to matter more than blade length, since you don't really need anything beyond 2" plus clothing worth of penetration. You also probably have huge reach, so the control you'd get from a shorter blade is likely more important than the benefits of extending your reach a couple of inches. Something like a Viper KOI or Cold Steel Mini Tac Bowie would work well depending on the size and shape of your hand.

Ok thanks to all that responded and helped me spend money. I chose the ESEE Izula without any scales with the plastic sheath. Since I wanted a different color I saw no need in spending more money on the Izula 2. I also ordered a set of the extended Izula G-10 handles from TKC in colors I wanted that will make the Izula handle the same length as the Izula 2. If the sheath doesn’t work I’ll order an Artamus.

I also took the Liberty of ordering this to carry also EDC I may put the Microtech UTX up for a while.

CIVIVI Baklash C801DS, 3.5” Damascus Drop Point Plain Blade, Black G-10 Handles.

Three affordable blades that work for me: ESEE Izula, CRKT Siwi, Morakniv Eldris. Me personally, I just toss them in a pocket and call it a day. For some reason, any kind of belt carry puts me in the “Is that a knife or are you just happy to see me” territory.

Let us know what works for you! Happy hunting hehe.

I love my Izula in S35VN for small EDC kind of roles.
Get the "The Knife Connection" aftermarket scales and you wont miss that extra tang length.
That is a beautifully designed knife, and you'd be right to call me a super fan... but I think it's well earned.
Love the compact profile.

I am leaning towards the Tops brand as they have such a wide variety that may fit what I’m looking for.
They do have a wide variety. Some of their stuff isn’t ground well to be too good at cutting but my Cockpit Commander is a slicer. You might consider the CUMA KAGE or Smatchet. Big blades but super cool. Probably not great for concealed carry though:)

Go check out Ken Brock's knives. He worked as a Cop for a long time & his knives were designed with "Get The F--k Off Me" in mind

Exactly why I've been exploring alternatives to the Leek I've carried for some years. Up until late middle age I studied martial arts often enough (I moved for work, schools moved or went under) that I was confident I could roll out of getting knocked down without sustaining serious injury, but that's not been the case since about age 60. I'm looking for something that can be carried roughly center-line/front. This is something I'd only carry in places where firearms are not allowed and here that's not very often.

Please do not suspect me in trolling, and if you do - just ignore my post. To me one of these Opinels with a whissle is the best self-defence knife. In an emergent situation, knifife is pulled out of the pocket and the whistle is blowed. The opponent will be shocked for at least 4-5 seconds, enough time the ring to be turned, blade pulled out open, and then turning the ring back to lock it again. Bonus is, later, if still alive, the Opinel user will appear convincing that it was definitely self-defence because of the whissle, asking for help obviously.
