Condor's 2011 catalog is up

You'll stock the cool stuff. Do you have a domain name yet?

Not yet, but it's right around the corner. ;)

OK - I was wondering how long that would take you. :D
good deal bro!

I'm sure you weren't the only one wondering. It was only a matter of time--I pretty much obsess over their stuff so I might as well stock it. :D

The Condor website has some of the new ones displayed...the dagger looks like it will be mine at some point!

I think I'll end up with one of those myself at some point. It'll make an awesome letter opener. :p:thumbup:

Will Condor let you sell modified stock?

Honestly I don't plan on modifying anything from the Condor line, short of finishing any edges that are sub-par or sanding the handles up a little better if needed. Every piece I get will be inspected by me personally for quality control, so unless it's a heat treatment problem you won't get any lemons from me!

It's not a small order, either. I sent them the list, so all that's left is to get the amount verified and the money sent out. 101 items!

Almost ENTIRELY new and improved items, and according to them I'll be one of the first in line to receive stuff. After the first few orders I'll start expanding to older product as well.

Does anyone know if those Condor sheaths take well to beeswax impregnation?

Now that's a good question! I've never tried my hand at it myself, for fear of mucking it up. Also most of my personal Condors are on the large side, so I'd need a LOT of wax and a water trough of a double boiler. :D:D:D

I just sent you an email through BF with my email so you can notify me when you open your store.

And yeah, it would take a whole block of beeswax to do a golok sheath. I just don't know if it will absorb. there looks to be some kind of treatment on it already.

Got your email. :)

And yeah there seems to be a light protective surface treatment on the face of the leather already. I've taken mine out in the rain and snow/slush for extended periods without much ill effect, but if I did so more frequently I'd want to use some silicone leather treatment or something for extra protection.

Watching with interest - I'd love to get my name on a couple of 'survival craft' knives and a 14" eco-light machete if you're getting any of the first batch.

Joezilla:

Do the eco-survivor machetes have the same blade profile as the regular El-salvador's such that a custom sheath would fit either blade?

There ought to be a few of those. :)

I'm not Joe but I hope you don't mind me answering. They have the same handle (just different color) and the same profile (just difference in stock thickness) so you ought to be good!:thumbup:

I just picked up a pair of mora 780 triflex's off ebay for $16 each shipped. Looking to compare one to the 2011 survival craft and bushlore.

FortyTwoBlades, or Joe:

Any specs on knife and sheath (separate weights) for the survival craft and 2011 wood-handled bushlore. The website lists a weight but no mention of whether that includes the leather sheath. Is the bushlore really 3x as heavy as the survival craft (.25 vs. .77 #)? due to the full tang? seems heavy for a knife this size.

They might have weighed the micarta version. I'll put them on the scales and let you know.

Anyone have any info on the 1075 compared to something like the 1095 used by others like BK&T? I'd be interested to know if it stays nice and sharp with use and if the edge tends to roll or chip with use?

Also, on the axes, anyone know if the polls are hardened and how the heads are forged? Is the bit forge-welded in to the rest or what?

Where's this stuff made?

Thanks!

Condor's 1075 performs very similarly to 1095, but with increased impact resistance. In my experience it holds an edge very well and is EXTREMELY easy to resharpen. As far as the axes go I have no clue. It's all made in El Salvador though. :)

Ah, El Salvador. The second most highly deforested country in Latin America. Any idea what type of wood they are using and how it's sourced?
