Condor's 2011 catalog is up

no, the original clicks a little bit. the other day i pulled some nice little wood shavings out of the gap at the bottom of the tang. the replacement is fantastic. its so pretty and smooth, i dont really wanna use it yet. at least not until i get it some fitted pants. i can just baton with my heavy bowie and use my trail boss.

I've noticed how there are two woods used for the Condor pieces, although they're both supposed to be sustainably-raised South American walnut. The original parang of yours has the kind that I've noticed to be a bit coarser and more prone towards chipping. The new one shows the more reddish wood which sands up to a brilliant shine and seems just about indestructible. Glad to see them moving towards that source for their scale material.

I'm really loving the Joe Flowers designed choppers (Thai Enep and Boomslang)! I'll definitely be picking up one or the other...or both. I just wish they'd list MSRPs (expected release dates would be nice, too...I know, I'm impatient).

Well, JOEZILLA! Any idea of ETAs on the Thai Enep and Boomslang??? I want these bad. I have money now. I don't want to wait.;)

it does feel a lot more solid. it just shows that condor is learning from their mistakes and improving. its great to see them producing so many different blades for the new year. it just means they will draw more customers. you can even see the grain pattern on the newer one flows with the shape of the handle more, the old one has a few grain lines that visibly go straight off of the handle. i had an axe haft that was like that, it got destroyed on one day of chopping.

Joe, how does* that thai enep handle? is there a reason you didnt go with 1/4" stock?

Back when I got my Viking it had the dark brown wood and when I was whittling the scales down to shape them (with a sharp Mora, no less!) I had to be super careful not to chip out splinters of it. It was almost like trying to whittle teak. The new reddish stuff is MUCH nicer.:thumbup:

it looks like a lighter color than rosewood, but a similar feel to it. i compared it to my mccurdy brass guard kukri. dont really know what it is, but im not a wood expert, lol. i know what ironwood looks like and wish i had some growing in my area.

I got my Bushlore in the mail yesterday. It's the older model, dated August 2010.

It looks like it's well built, but it is very dull.

the new ones are thinner and supposed to be razor sharp.i watched the equip2endure shot show video featuring Mr. Joe Flowers, and it looks like most of the "bushcraft" knives have been thinned out and more attention is being paid to the grind. my new parang was not paper slicing when i got it, but i just ran my butcher steel over the polished edge and now its good. maybe try that with your bushlore.

JOEZILLA, I'm still waiting, man! I suppose I could just try e-mailing Condor. Duh.

They are now sharpening the Bushlore model on a jig, the edge is extended to the top of the handle, and it's in 1/8" stock now. Not sure about other models, but they've done a lot of revamps.

I have a Bushlore. It was hate at first sight. It's been relegated to my trunk so I don't have to look at it.

I can't wait to get my hands on the new style. Actually there's a few that I really like the looks of. I know where some of my refund money is going.

Yeah, I wasn't a huge fan of the original version of the Bushlore. Loved the profile, but couldn't stand that THICK blade. Might even have to get one of the micarta 2011 ones though. :D

I just ought an 18" eco-light for backpacking use and a cold steel "magnum kukri" for heavier chopping and defensive purposes when hiking in Guatemala...

Now I'm kicking myself for not waiting for the Thai Enep machete - looks like a much more functional and sophisticated version of the CS magnum kukri (which I hear is junk), although 2.1# is a little heavy.

I've been ruminating on a 14" carbon steel el-salvador as it's mostly hardwoods where I live (NH) and i'm worried the thin eco-light just wont' be up for heavier chopping tasks.

Oh well... I'm sure at the very least I'll be getting the 14" eco-light, and one of the new bushlores. Keep up the good work Condor and you'll be well on your way to getting all of my money.

Your Eco-Survivor machete will hold up fine. It just won't be as good on heavier targets as the carbon El Salvador.

For reference, I heard back from Condor and the expected time before 2011 product starts shipping to dealers is 4-6 weeks. Stay tuned for details.:thumbup:

Where do you get your Condor stuff from?

The Condor website has some of the new ones displayed...the dagger looks like it will be mine at some point!
