When I get bored I like to do a giveaway contest.

Winner gets these 2 burl blocks. I think they might look ok for knife handles. These are natural wood, not stabilized. Maple Burl and Hard Redwood Burl. They will look better when you fine sand and finish them.

Only one entry per person.

Just make a post in this thread and say something entertaining, interesting or encouraging to the rest of the knifemakers here.

Friday (5/21) at 5PM PST I will use a random number generator to do the drawing. Your post number is your entry number.

This contest is open to all knife makers. I will pay for shipping to US and Canada.
Good Luck!

Thanks for the Chance!

Q. How many knives does it take to change a light bulb?

A. About 5. Don't ask why, its just a stab in the dark.

These burls would do any of the maker's on this forum proud. Thanks for the opportunity.

Thanks Mark! I've used a number of Mark's blocks in a selection of wood types. Never have I been disappointed. Great wood using a great process! The winner will be pleased.

"The Swiss have an interesting army. Five hundred years without a war. Pretty impressive. Also pretty lucky for them. Ever see that little Swiss Army knife they have to fight with? Not much of a weapon there. Corkscrews, Bottle openers. 'Come on, buddy, let's go. You get past me, the guy in back of me, he's got a spoon. Back off. I've got the toe clippers right here."

Thanks for the opportunity Mark. I've been lusting after your redwood blocks for a while now… I hope I win. :D

Heard in the car - My daughter Eva (3yo) just told me that their helicopter crashed because Zoe (my 2yo daughter) was baking muffins in the front seat instead of paying attention to driving.

Just so everyone knows, hitting molten brass with a hammer is not recommended... have water and a fire extinguisher handy. On the up side... I think I have made some mokume in a coffee can forge.......

Thanks for the opportunity! I'm pretty new on here (comparativly) and have already learned SO much from everyone on the forum! Both of those blocks are georgous and anyone would be lucky to have them :)

Thanks for the opportunity!

A man died and went to heaven. As he stood in front of St. Peter at the Pearly Gates, he saw a huge wall of clocks behind him.

He asked, 'What are all those clocks?'

St. Peter answered, 'Those are Lie-Clocks. Everyone on Earth has a Lie-Clock.

Every time you lie the hands on your clock will move.'

'Oh,' said the man, 'whose clock is that?'

'That's Mother Teresa's. The hands have never moved, indicating that she never told a lie.'

'Incredible,' said the man. 'And whose clock is that one?'

St. Peter responded, 'That's Abraham Lincoln's clock. The hands have moved twice, telling us that Abe told only two lies in his entire life.'

'Where's President OBama's clock?' asked the man.
Obama's clock is in Jesus' office. He's using it as a ceiling fan.

Mark certainly has nice wood!
:eek::eek:;):D

Mark, you might like this one:

Q: What do you get when you cross an ash tree with a beech tree?

A: A "half-ash son-of-a-beech".

Always makes me smile :). Thanks for the opportunity!

What sits on the bottom of the sea and vibrates?

A nervous wreck!
