As some of you know I've been working my butt off (literally!) with Crowdog since the end of August. My goal was to lose at least 2 pants sizes before we went to SHOT show.

Here I am July 2009 just before I decided to start my program. I was at my all time (not pregnant) highest weight.

Here I am on Christmas day. A few weeks before SHOT show and 5/6 lbs heavier then I was when SHOT came up. I just don't have good pics of me from SHOT that actually shows how much weight I lost.

The journey was rough. I had weeks when I gained weight and got discouraged. I had weeks when I lost 5/6 lbs and was elated. The few consistent things I had throughout the program where my willpower to lose the weight, the support of my family and the never ending encouragement from Crowdog. Whenever I thought about stopping my workout 5 minutes early b/c I was tired our feeling crummy I would think WWCD. lol It's true. He was there holding me accountable for everything I ate, my cardio and my weight lifting. NOTHING slipped by him. Even the 1/4 of a piece of Texas Toast :p.

So what did I lose? I lost 24 lbs and my "fat" jeans. :)

What did I gain?
- Knowledge about when, how and what to feed my body to keep me in optimal condition. After this many months I can tell when I'm not feeding my body the proper nutrition. I just don't feel good when I don't. I get tired, bloated and miserable. You really start noticing "little" things.
-I went from loathing the gym to looking forward to going. I even get grumpy if I don't go for a period of time.
-Above everything I gained a friendship. We spent countless hours talking, planning and executing my plan. It is almost impossible to not develop a bond with someone when you're sharing the information needed for me to accomplish my goal.

One last thing. Crowdog left me speechless yesterday. I received a package in the mail from him. It was my reward for reaching my goal. He gave his time, his knowledge and his support to help me reach my goal and he continues to give. He sent me HIS Bark River mini northstar engraved.

I need to toss on about ten pounds. I'm active at work, so I'm really going to need to focus on training and food to fill the gap.

I've noticed the same thing in myself and others. Those that cook alot of thier own food are generally happier, and to varying degrees, heathier. If I eat alot of crap fast food, I get miserable and lethargic. When I cook, even those evil steak subs, I just feel better.

Think I'm going to set a goal of getting back into shape by may. I used to be able to break off ten miles in the woods in a little over an hour I dunno if the knees can take that anymore, but let's find out.

To be mentally and physically able is the desire behind this, it is the primary driving force to my passion in regards to bodybuilding, (“bodybuilding” – meant literally, not pertaining specifically to standing on stage in a French cut Speedo.)
The building of ones body to perform; to perform at its highest possible standard is and should be a fundamental goal inherent in every individuals living. But as it is, to an extent it is being conditioned out of us as a people; it isn’t necessary to strive at being the best.
Through my participation in aiding Shottys process, we struck upon some common truths and desires, one of which being a want to help others on this forum facilitate their dreams; or rather do much as ESEE does – give incentives to those willing to perform the tasks needed in the learning of the skill sets oriented around survival.
Without a well maintained / prepared, body and mind; regardless of the newest maxpidition packs and seventy four knives, and assorted tools in your edc’d psk and bob your success is hindered.
So heres the deal, 1) you need to post "I'M DOIN IT!" and a desire which you feel your body limits, ex. – further better hikes, outdoors time with kids and fam, first accents at Yosemite, running a marathon whatever, 2) post or pm a before picture, weight, feelings thoughts to reflect on after completion,
3) post a goal weight
4) after pictures, weight and thoughts
During this, every week you need to post an update for everyone on how the diet, exercise, training is going, challenges…. Whatever; just keep us updated.
Keep the updates in the challenge thread.
Lots of good things up for grabs, I’ll let Shotty list them off for you guys.
Shotty and I will judge this, in the case of a tie we will bring in someone to determine the winner.
THIS IS NOT JUGDED PURELY ON WEIGHT LOSS, so don’t go out and try to dump a ton of weight and expect to win. Rapid weight loss, drugs, and any other short cuts aren’t going to get you anything aside from ill health.
This may change a bit, we just wanted to get this out there for you guys.

During this contest feel free to ask questions; be eager to learn and make progress. Shotty and myself will help to the best of our ability, anyone entered, to make their goal happen.

I'm 6'0" and 218 pounds. As far as strength training and conditioning, I'm doing better than 95% of my peers. But I want to lose my stomach and get a six-pack. By May 1st.
I'm trying very hard to keep a steady diet, but it seems like groceries cost more for healthier stuff, and I'm buying almost twice as many (normal groceries for my family and then "healthy" foods for me). My family just won't eat the healthier foods, and I think that if they were to, the food bill would be more (again, healthy stuff costs more than Hot Pockets and pizza rolls).
This is my dilemma.

Katie; keep up the good work. You look great

P.S. Those dancing red dinosaurs don't fare so well when walking off of a countertop. I was curious.

While I can appreciate the preamble to the contest rules, this last bit scores you some serious respect from me. I hate fad diets and have little respect for folks who trash their gall bladders dumping weight using them to get their "swimsuit body" in 4 weeks or less...

Hey Katie, you look great. Terrific job staying focused with school and your RAT Pack duties.

That was hard. I would want to eat healthy and everyone else would want something that was high in fat. If i didn't have the fat grams to spare. they didn't get it. I baked everything. Nothing got extra salt. When I bake chicken for dinner i will throw an extra couple of pieces in to have chicken for the next day. I try to keep the bulk of my intake protein. When i started i was trying to get in at least 150 grams of protein. Shakes, hard boiled eggs (they make me gag now!), os trim jerky, ect. Focus! You'll do great!

I'm 6"0" 180. Isn't that much, but still, I have a bit a of a stomach I'd like to lose.

Starting next week, I'm going to run approx 30 minutes every three days, after a few weeks I'll do it more often/longer. I'm in fairly good shape, so I don't think that should be a problem.

It is pretty sick what people allow themselves to believe and what others lead some to believe.
I have seen the heath issues first hand (near death, life altering affects)

first i'm really proud of you mrs shotty i know exactly how hard it is to loose weight and keep motiviated. when i turned 40 i looked at myself and i wasn't happy with how i had let go. i was 211lbs 6'1" i spent the next 2 years running and working out every day i got down to 150 at my lowest, and fittest

now last summer after an extended stay at a hotel (3 months) with no where to eat but at resturants i gained back up to 175, i've been working to loose it ever since.

right now i'm at 167lbs my goal is 155. i'm having trouble staying motivated too it seems the last 10lbs is the toughest for me.

take care

Congrats Mrs Shotty, that's wonderful! That was nice of CD to sent you a "prize" for all your effort. Very thoughtful of him. Beautiful blade.... guess you'll have to get out camping with Mr and the kids and put that to use....

I am in on this one, I want to lose 25lbs at least) by the Blade show. Need to figure out how I am going to go about it.

I would love to join in on this. I have tried many times to get into a healthier state for many reasons ... most importantly my 10 year old daughter. I want her to grow up healthy and happy with who she is. I kinda need to be able to lead by example.
Current weight at last check 196. Goal weight ... something in the healthier range of under 150. So that's 46 or so pounds for me.
Will work on the picture part ... really try to avoid the camera...

I won't dawdle, It's 3AM and i need to get to bed. I'm 19, 6'1 and currently 117 kilos, or 257lb on the old scales. I used to be worse; I used to be 125kg. I know something's got to be done about it. All the best to all of you and congrats to Mrs. S!

I hate seeing people try to do heavy excercize on 500 calories a day or less. It's better to something sustainable, than starve yourself for a temporary result. But try and explain that to a girl trying to get into her summer shorts.

I'm 190 and about 6' 2". I'd like less belly, and more arms. More than that, I want to work on my endurance, which has gone to crap. I'd like to stay about the same weight, possibly more. I used to focus on pure speed and ran around 140. But there was almost no power to it. I guess once I get my health in order I can worry about specific weights.

Edit: I also notice my weight fluxuates pretty frequently between 185 and 210. 210 is when I let it out of control a bit, but it's usual to go between 185 and 195 without much diffrence in what I do. Point being, don't worry about the little ups and downs, stick to the overall plan.
