Continuing to find ways to decorate with my traditionals...

What theme are you using, or just what strikes your fancy?

I like what you have done Jimmy. I am in the planning stage for something similar for our "quiet room". Since I've been an avid western reader all my life, I want to surround myself with items in that theme. Beside a couple rifles I already have, I am collecting knives to follow that theme now. This will be a winter project when I am stuck inside.

The hardest part for me so far is finding display cases like you have. I've found a couple on eBay but don't trust the build quality sight unseen.

are most of your displays transient, meaning do if you feel the need to use one of them i guess you replace it with another one or rearrange?
they all look great.

Modification to this one was already done... moved out a small Buck model 55 to add in my latest Queen fixed bladed knife. Yes, all items are just placed in, can be moved, condensed, or taken out. The displays themselves are also as portable and changeable :-)

Thanks again for the kudos, guys :-)

Where do you sit for all this pillows?
Looks good, I would maybe add a decanter of bourbon and a couple rocks glasses to the table and ditch the wine myself, I like wine, but find whiskey in a nice decanter adds a touch of class.

Umm... the pillows, just like the knives and displays, are not bolted in or anything ;-) They are so placed to give the room some classy look, but can be moved aside, or.... better yet, used to prop things up! ;-) As for the alcohol.... Wine is my preference... and if ya look closely at the pic showing it's location, there is a wine decanter on that tray on that table :-)

Let's keep the comments family friendly, please.

Those are nice displays, Jim.

Looks much better than my display, which is virtually nil... lol! I have a big big ceramic serving dish on the counter that all my knives just sit in waiting for me to decide every morning which one I am going to carry that day. I am a woodworker too, so I should know better and just make myself some nice display cases!

Looks great Jimmy; you've obviously given the placement a lot of thought as it doesn't overpower the room at all, just adds to its character & looks tasteful

Very cool  I would love to do that in my "cave" downstairs, but it's currently a mess with junk from my kids' rooms. They're teenagers (one's in college now), so all their kid stuff somehow got shuffled down into the basement crowding me and my Zippo collection :p

Yeah, I do have the advantage of being a divorced man and kids all grown up. It allows the place to be all about me... which is kinda cool :-) There will be that time in your future, my friend (the kids out and your domain being a bit more free) :-)

Looks great but way to many pillows on the couch for a bachelor pad! lol You should have seen my first apartment after my divorce! I really didn't care about decorating or anything like that so for the first 3 years I didn't have a single thing hanging on the walls. Just had a couch with a big screen tv in the living room and my bed and a dresser in the bedroom that's it. :) Your pad and knife collection look great though good job for sure.

Pillows, sir....... pillows and candles..... nothing but compliments from my female friends ;-) And, I would not have added one single thing that you see, if I myself did not like it. So, if I like it, the ladies like it.... um, let's just say, the pillows stay! lol! :-) Thanks for the compliments :-)

Stan (coaltrain), you wrote: "The hardest part for me so far is finding display cases like you have. I've found a couple on eBay but don't trust the build quality sight unseen."

Just to let ya know, though I used to buy nothing but solid wood (cherry, oak, mahoghany, walnut, and others), I no longer am as concerned as I once was on such a thing. I still believe nothing is as durable as solid wood, that's for sure, but buying decently made furniture or accessories made using mdf, veneers, and other such methods, are okay, if heirloom furniture is not the goal (though it is not a bad goal, if that is what you want). This is coming from a guy that not only would not own anything but solid wood furniture, but also a guy that worked many years for a business named 'Warwick Architectural Woodwork Refinishers". But, if what you want is a display or two, and you don't have kids and animals running wild in your home, they don't have to be built like bank vaults, lol! Everyones needs/wants are different... but, if all you need are displays like I am using, email me and I will let you know of the national chain store I buy mine from :-)
