Continuing to find ways to decorate with my traditionals...

Actually, I liked the look of the Browning Point Blank in leather handle (the fixed blade knife) so much, I purchased two of the same. This is the way I displayed the other...

Yeah... I missed you guys! But, my knife buying has tapered off considerably. As the new display shows, something here and there may still catch my eye... but I am no longer actively seeking knives as oftenly. I do enjoy the uniqueness they have added to my decor... and that was one of the ideas I had from the start about adding a collection of knives :-)

I've missed you Jimmy. Displays are one of my favorite aspects of knife collecting, and you're one of the few that posts about it. See you around!

The latest display is coming along. While most items are traditional, this one is/will drift into some things that are not in that catagory, but certainly add interest and diversity :-) I have two other items coming my way via usps, and they will likely complete this display. After that, another long break will probably follow before any new sharp pointy things are purchased for my collection :-)

Looking nice! My display case for slipjoints is looking a little cluttered these days...

Thank you! Here's another box I made for some fixed blades. It's lighted from the inside with a small LED light strip I bought from Lowes.

Cool! I am glad to see other folks methods of decorating with their knives :-) Here is my latest display, all finished up now with yesterday receiving my Glock 81 knife (to go along with the 78 version), and my blue Buck Metro (to go along with my black version). Surely this latest display of mine deviates a little from my other knife displays in that it houses a tomahawk and some non traditional knives amongst some traditional ones. Somehow it all blends in, in my mind, and it continues to keep things interesting :-)

My latest display, this one having some good Ontario Knife Company representation in it. The Ontario's being the three larger fixed blade knives (one being a Case branded knife made by Ontario). I absolutely love the little miniature Bowie knives, they are really nicely assembled and finished.
I was hoping this display would be large enough to also display a Buck and a Schrade folder, but no more room to squeeze them in, so those two knives remain stored away until the next display case (and other knives) come along :)
The displaying of my "Man Gadget Collection" continues :)

Seems I also have a bit of stacked leather handle going on here :)

Here is an updated picture of my previously filled display... Same type of hinged top shadow box, just different contents...

Great displays Jimmy!

I like Estwing items too!!!!

Thanks, buddy!
I just wish that Estwing made a fixed blade knife or two using their stacked handle method.
They used to offer one that they had made in Sweden, which makes sense because the Estwing founder's heritage was Swedish... but oh so cool if they diversified to make something like that here. Hey, they are a different kind of tool, I know... but a tool it would be! :)

Ahh, was just thinking.... even if Estwing contracted Ontario to make something for them carrying the Estwing name.... that would be cool. I mean, even Case does that with Ontario (as shown above), so why not! :)

Oh boy, I got a Cold Steel 1917 Frontier Bowie on the way, a Schrade and a Buck in a drawer, and an Estwing Double Bit Axe that are going to all need a display case of their own... So, it seems I'll be keeping my eyes open while I'm out and about today for another display case idea. I can't keep these items waiting, they need to join the decorating scene that the others are involved in ;)

I'm especially excited about displaying the Schrade Scrimshaw lockback shown in the picture above. It was recently gifted to me by an elderly member of the gym I work for. It's an unused knife, but him having stored it away for many years in it's leather sheath without looking after it, caused it to get pretty badly tarnished on it's brass (enough to cause some pitting). But, hours of elbow grease brought her back to as new condition again :)
It was a great kindly gesture by this gentleman, so I will be proud to display it in my home :)

My outing and abouting today partially worked out for me.
I found this little display case/magnifying glass combo. Did not need the looking glass, but heck, price was good enough to make it seem like I was buying one item and getting the other free! :)
Anyhow, I removed the magnifying glass, relined the interior, and BINGO... A nice display for my Buck and Schrade folders :)

Well, my new Cold Steel 1917 Frontier Bowie & Ontario SP-6, needed a new home... they were not going to fit into the display cases I already have. So, I was checking out some nice big solid wood shadow boxes at a local big box craft/homegoods type store. They had a 50% off going on on shadow boxes, so I got a big one, (which was needed for that BIG BOWIE, lol! The sticker price was $89, but I paid $48 & some change, including the tax. Anyhow, here she is with the items that were waiting for a home :)

My collection has grown... and it's been fun. The hunt for items that draw my attention, the admiration of them, their initial clean-up, and of course, my decorating with them... my 'Man Gadget' collection :)

I seem to always play musical chairs with the collection when a new display comes onto the scene... This display, though pretty big, will eventually only get another one or two items, and I will call it done (full). I don't like cramming too many into a display... it just never looks right to me that way.

This display houses a first for me, and that is my including the leather sheath that came along with my new Cold Steel 1917 Frontier Bowie. With all my other fixed blade knives, their sheaths have been put away. But, this Bowie's sheath was unique and attractive enough to deserve a place next to the Bowie knife :)
