Continuing to find ways to decorate with my traditionals...

I had already put up a picture of my latest display on another thread... but wanted to add it here to my collection display thread. This one contains Rough Rider and sourced out Buck knives... So, I consider it my new "Asian connection collection"... lol! Have some other knives coming my way, and will either have to start squeezing them in my current display boxes, or get another display... It's all part of the fun :)

I just ordered this Schatt & Morgan/Queen walnut and glass display case. It will replace the white display case I posted earlier in this thread. Some redistribution will also take place to make sure some Schatts and Queens make it into this display... but it will house other makers and knives from other countries as well. I ordered this because one, I like walnut... two, I like the blue background... three, I like the Schatt and Queen company markings, kinda making the display itself a collectible. Got my fingers crossed that it arrives intact... especially since it has a real glass top :)

That's a classy case!!! Can't wait to see it filled up with knives!!!!! :)

Thanks... it's just another Christmas present to myself ;) I have looked at them online before, just never squeezed the trigger (I'm a gun guy, so to "squeeze a trigger" is correct verbage) ;) I am pretty excited about this purchase... just can't wait to get my mitts on it :)
Thanks again... hope you enjoy the upcoming holidays, sir :)

Received my Schatt & Morgan walnut/glass display case today. I have not loaded her up with knives yet, will likely do that tomorrow. I was worried about it being damaged in shipment, but she arrived in perfect condition.
I made two modifications to her. First, I did not realize how the interior felt was installed. Well, the felt envelopes a very thick foam which pushes the felt up against the glass. I guess the idea is to place knives atop this felted foam, and then when one closes the walnut/glass lid, it pushes the knives into the foam, keeping the knives fixed in place. That may be a way to do it if placing the display up on the wall, but I planned the display to be laid flat, so the thick foam had to go. I detached the felted foam, and cut the felt to fit a piece of cardboard I fitted to the display. Once the felt was used to cover this cardboard, it got placed within the display, giving me a nice looking flat surface to place my knives onto.
The second modification was to remove the gold 2007 number that was applied to the glass top. It is completely ready for my transfer of knives into it. Really like this display :)

That's a good looking display case!!!!!!

Load 'er up! :D

Thanks!
LOL!... Tomorrow is laundry morning before work at Noon... So, the knife transfer will be happening while my clothes is washing and drying in the morning. I gotta get a night of rest to make sure the knife placement is done with some good thought... I'm bit old school anal (or ocd, by modern standards) ;)

 That looks great bud!!!!:thumbup:

Thank you! :)
I did only one change after putting them all in... I exchanged the Douk Douk for a Rough Rider sawcut bone trapper to now equal two Chinese made specimens within this display case (the other being the Colt hawkbill).

Thanks again for the nice comment, sir! :)

That is a VERY well presented collection amigo.

Well done on finding such a sweet case and thanks for documenting your cutlery decorating.

Very handsome presentation Jimmy:thumbup: The "Chinese knives" don't look at all out of place but,( I hope you'll forgive my impertinence ) the SAKs and the K55 do. It may be my "OCD" but I can't help but notice that all the others are warm natural materials.
Happy Holidays!

I actually agree with you (well, not about the k55k, but on the SAKs and maybe the delrin handled Remington barlow))... But, with my wanting to keep the international and diversity thing going, and wanting that represented here... I fit them into this display. I could take all my more sterile/cold looking knives and segregate them, but have chosen to add one here and one there, doing my best to blend them into the mix, which can be tough with these little buggers ;)

And... Happy Holidays to you too! :)

Been awhile since I put up any new displays... but, my daughter came up to visit me from her home in Queens NY, and brought daddy up a new Buck Solitaire USA made knife. Well, that and a few other things I had tucked away for later displaying, went into this new shadow box I just picked up.

So far this new display houses items with the following brands...
Browning (Taiwan)
Browning (China)
Wenger (Switzerland)
Victorinox (Switzerland)
Buck (USA)
Colonial (USA)
Colonial (USA)

The display has some room to grow... but no hurry ;-)

Jimmy! Welcome back! I missed your interesting views on knives, collecting, the economics of the industry and your personal journey through it all.

Glad you're still with us and still making attractive displays. All of my unused knives are sitting in their tubes and boxes on a shelf, lonely and unloved. :(
