Copperheads/Copperlocks: show time!

BTW--isn't a case Large Folding Hunter technically a copperhead model, too? If so, I need to make more pictures.

The "Copperhead" is derivative from the "Folding Hunter" which predates it. However, the patterns while having similarities are different. (Most notably the "swell" and "bolster" on various manufacturers' patterns.)

See this thread on the "Full Size Folding Hunter"

This knife, which Ken Erickson and I collaborated on, takes the idea of the full size folding hunter and brings it down to a bit over Copperhead size at 4 1/8" closed. The blades are different at my request:

That is beautiful Elliot, but then again all of Ken's knives are.

I've got nothing like Elliott's Ruple, but it is a pattern I enjoy.

Here's my six. Three in stag, three in bone.

It would make a nice knife for a lady, but I think it would be a little big for my wife and I don't have a girl friend or mistress. Maybe my daughter in law would use it.

The bone is their cranberry bone which is really pretty. I can tell you I will not have any problem carrying and using this knife myself. I have always liked the cranberry bone. This knife has the wharncliffe blade and the inlaid script Case XX as well. I don't think it is nearly as "feminine" as "bubba gum".

Teasing was not my intention my friend; I was just thinking it would make a nice one for my wife, not knowing the size. I stand corrected :)

Sorry, I mis-understood your comment. The knife is the full size copperlock which is 4-1/4" closed and 7-3/8" open. A pretty substantial size. I would tend to the mini-copperlock for a lady. My real facination with this particular knife is the Wharncliffe blade. The picture I posted earlier has both sizes in it for reference. I believe the blue one in your OP is a large copperlock, is it not?

It is hard to tell what Case is going to do when they bring out a new handle material. I'm not too fond of the zebra and gator and giraffe, laser etched stuff. Even the Thanksgiving etch on that mini-copperlock is not my favorite, but I bought it so I wouldn't be putting the pearl handled one in jepardy by carrying it everyday.

One possibe exception is the "barbed wire" version out there, but I haven't seen one in person.

I believe that Case has put the big copperlock pattern in the "vault", which means they won't produce any more of them for a few years.

This is a Rough Rider I picked up just to see if I liked the pattern. I do, a lot. It seems to be a very useful selection of blades.

Hi all,

The copperhead pattern is definitely one of my fav. Please, show what you have!

Here's my modest copperhead/copperlock array:

Really admire that Queen single blade Copperhead in Carved Stag Bone. Been searching for one for couple of years without success, that scale became 'extinct' some years back.

Only have one Copperhead, a Böker in Grand Canyon. Just wondering if Canoes count as Copperheads at all? They have that rounded tang covering bolster.

That's an interesting comment. I was looking on their website Wednesday I believe and that's the scale material they were showing on the website.
