Cornucopia of New Products to Debut @ Shot Show 2013, article

I'm also interested in why they brought the Intrepid back. I like it, but like MB said, it's not real practical. Maybe it will last longer this time....

Anyone's guess, really. I'll leave the marketing predictions to the experts. I know I'll buy the L version as I have used the XL Chisel as a multipurpose dive knife/camp hatchet for decades now...I was able to use a Kit Carson U2 in South America that sold me on the design...

Kit used to be a member/Mod here....just looked...last post was 2006...

Since we are talking about new, I just saw the 722 Spitfires on Facebook. One handed lockback and at least three different colors, all while being US made :).

I just saw the Spitfire on facebook, too. It immediately made me think 'Spyderco', but I like it! Think I'll put the gray one on my wish list...

Glad to hear the Intrepids are coming back. The Spitfire looks appealing to me also.
In my opinion, of all the Buck knives I've carried in the Bush in the last 15 years, the small Intrepid chisel tip is my #1 choice for a fixed blade.
I love the expose "striking cap" for splitting kindling, perhaps making dovetails, general prying or even digging.... :O
The single bevel seems to stay sharp (enough) longer. The parially serrated edge is great for rope/paracord cutting. The edge on the spine works well with a magnesium firestarter so as not to dull your user edge. The removable handles allow for a paracord wrap if prefered. I like the flare at the end of the scales, helps keep it in my hand. I can see it as not being a great "hunting knife" but as a "Survival knife", I greatly enjoy it. I will have to check out the new ones as they look slightly redesigned.
I did have a drop sheath made for it so as not to interfere with my hip strap of my frame pack.

Guess BG rubbed someone wrong one too many times. He's the only member of this forum which I have EVER put on my ignore list.

i liked the intrepid ... seems like a good dive knife ... most dive knives are like sharpened pry bars as anything use..
are we sure bg42 is baned? i mean is bg42 and bg42edge one and the same?:foot:
ya he some times went a tad over the line ..
but i thought he setteled down ..

used to be (way back in the days i was new here) there some times were heated debates ...
any way was a lot more then now.. ;)
even i setteled down a lot... :o
after i ran outa shed juce ....:D:rolleyes:

That does put a bit of a damper on it when it comes to sharpening on a stone. Spyrderco's Sharpmaker tends to be what I use for recurves.

Or the Edgetek Flipstik sold by Buck. ;) Personally, I'm glad to see a new modern lockback. I'll be keeping an eye out for this one.

I was looking forward to the Spitfire line.

I really wish that they would have used their blade slot opener (like on the Vantage line).

Or even a thumb stud opener.

One and the same. Check out post #20 (word "banned") under his name at the top. I think it had something to do with a different sub forum, not this one.

Wonder what the specs are? I'm likin all three of those colors with a PE blade.

I am hoping for at least a 3" blade.

I'm with you. The Vantage models are 3.25" and I'm pretty happy with all of those I have. Looks like they are set up for tip up/down carry as well as L/R. Maybe aluminum scales? the blade profile kind of reminds me of a cross between a Lux and a Vantage.

What the Lux would have been if it were better. :)
I am going to guess aluminum as well. The handles have the same look as some of the other knives like the Metros. I also am hoping that they come out with some other colors, perhaps red :D

At first glance I didn't catch the Mid-Lock and apparent Full Takedown features, I'm looking forward to getting my hands on one of these!
