Could There Be..a Forum Buck ?

If it turns out to be a 112 I'm good for whatever price and any configuration at all. .By definition it would be rare and odd and I will be proud to display it. But I spend a lot of time here and have made some good friends too. I would buy one of any model just to support the project and the forum. I could see down thru the years different threads relating to a forum knife. I sometimes forget just how big this forum really is. ..it's huge! If you only go to the Buck section your missing 95% of posts and hundreds of different brands and maker's. It's a safe bet folks on the other parts of the forum would be interested too..

What do you like about Bg42 that you think makes it preferable than s90v? I have no experience with Bg42 so would like to know it's pros/cons.

A buck 300 with wood scales and CPM 154 would be a nice addition I think.

easier to sharpen than s90v. s90v higher corrosion resistance and higher wear resistance, but bg42 is no slouch at both and a bit easier to keep sharp. plus it's kinda rare in knives other than a few models and older chris reeves knives and some custom buck models and a few other brands and models. buck used it for awhile and those knives tend to bring good prices with that steel, so it's a throwback to buck traditions a bit as well.

i like both just prefer bg42 in a buck......that said i'd prefer bg42 over 154cm........it's an upgrade over 154cm in a few ways. 154cm is a fine steel as well.

S35VN would be fine by me. ELMAX or M390 would be great also. Can you imagine the furor over this knife elsewhere if it had an Al or Al-Sc frame with an M390 or Elmax blade? Sanctified Bovine! People would go nuts.

Id buy one regardless for a forum knife, but to use it id want a marksman, vantage or spitfire.

Hey yall new to this Buck forum but I might be interested in a knife, you could always create a poll(s) for consensus..

If this idea gets some traction it would be a good idea to post developments on other parts of the forum as I'm sure folks would like to know. I spend 99% of my time here on the Buck section and if I'm like many others they won't know unless it's posted in other parts. .

I actually think I know how to make this work based on previous experience with forum projects over the course of 10 years. In my case I have always done watches but I am sure using the same formula would work on a Buck forum knife. =) This was though on other forums one of which is primarily a knife forum. =)

I am with you on the 501 but would do S35VN or M390. =)

Since Elmax and M390 are similar in many respects that would get my vote. However, S35VN is also a great steel and I would not mind that, either. As for the scales, I really do not care if it is yellow or not. All I really care about is that it looks good, is different, and does not cost an arm and a leg.

Really? Buck traditional yellow Delrin? Case traditional yellow knives? Spyderco Salt series? Shall I go on?
Really, I never new a fella that had one or desired one, and always wondered why they made a yellow handle, just figured they did it to attract the women to a knife.

If you asked the people on this forum, most of them have yellow handled Buck's or other knives. It is an old tradition, not a new marketing strategy.

i always thought the yellow was for ease of finding if dropped or set down turned around came back easier to find routine. stuck out better than black or brown etc. while in the field for a case sodbuster or in the water if dropped on a salt spyderco series. i got a few yellow handled knives in the collection. mostly sod busters and spyderco salt series.

now the pink ones im with ya 100%.:)

Yep, Pink is for girls. Yellow is okay and it's easier to find when you drop it in the woods.

I know this is pretty bad mock up but I'm bored. Anodized blue and yellow aluminum.
