Couldn’t decide between Emerson cqc7 and southern grind bad monkey so I got both. One has to go back. Need help to decide on my first “quality” knife.

I wish I had your problem of owning both of those knives. I'm jealous.

Teen aged girls would find me a hard act to follow level of jealous.

I'm in so much kind of trouble for saying that. Can I borrow those knives to defend myself?
Hahaha yes I wish I could keep both! Unfortunately the lady said I had to choose one and it’s my last knife purchase for awhile (we will see about that lol). Start a go fund me for yourself to get a Emerson haha. I would donate.

I had a Super CQC-7 and for my hands it was a little awkward. I like the CQC-7, but it is just a little small for my tastes. It is not awkward for me though. And I am a not a huge fan of the chisel grind. Maybe it is me and my sharpening technique, but they don't seem to hold an edge for me. The Bad Monkey hit a sweet spot for me. Size, grind and edge holding just worked better for me. That said, I still have two CQC-7 knives. And it really is true that Emersons get better with use and age.
Yeah I feel a super cqc7 would be perfect! If only I could find them, they are rarer than Bigfoot.
Funny you say that though because the Emerson wasn’t sharp out of the box but the monkey was razor sharp. Thanks for the input

Only one question. Why are you playing the buy and try game? Returns should only be considered if there is a quality issue, not buyer remorse.

Because 300$ is alot of money to me and I want to be sure I’m happy with something before I spend that kind of money on a knife.

Honestly I wanted to but I only found one and it was used for over $600. Absolutely insane. Do like the tiger though, might do that.
The roadhouse is my favorite of all Emersons, $600 ia absurd though.

And cold steel is just gas station knives that work 😂

Op, have you considered the mini horseman which has my favorite handle, or the 15 or any of the commanders? All in 3.5” blades or bigger

Hello yes I have. I will look into the mini horseman. As far at the others , I was looking for a tanto pretty much more or less. Cqc15 and commanders recurve is a massive turn off for me. I enjoy sharpening my knives on stones and you can’t do that with the recurved blades.

Dealers make a handsome markup and can certainly afford to accept some returns for any reason .

Buying used from an individual , I won't return unless defective or misrepresented .

Yes these are big eBay dealers that sell many knives and take returns no questions asked. And I won’t use the knives really at all so if I do decide to return they are still in perfect condition for the seller. I’m sure they won’t be that bothered by the return.

Well then the roadhouse is definitely the one for you. I love tantos and it’s my favorite tanto of all. I was surprised when they discontinued them. I’d stay patient and keep an eye out for one. You can also do a wtb ad here on bf. Also, you should be able to talk em down from $600 cause there’s no way it’s selling for that.
