Couldn’t decide between Emerson cqc7 and southern grind bad monkey so I got both. One has to go back. Need help to decide on my first “quality” knife.

Yes these are big eBay dealers that sell many knives and take returns no questions asked. And I won’t use the knives really at all so if I do decide to return they are still in perfect condition for the seller. I’m sure they won’t be that bothered by the return.
You do know Emerson sells dealer direct right?

Well then the roadhouse is definitely the one for you. I love tantos and it’s my favorite tanto of all. I was surprised when they discontinued them. I’d stay patient and keep an eye out for one. You can also do a wtb ad here on bf. Also, you should be able to talk em down from $600 cause there’s no way it’s selling for that.
Yes I’m gonna try to find one . If I can’t I might go with the Emerson tiger , quite a beautiful knife even though it’s not a tanto.

Every time I’ve done a WTB ad on Reddit I get 20 scammers messaging me lol. Idk how it is on here thi

I posted a WTB for a CRK that was born on my daughter's bday, no scammers yet!

Not at all on here, wtb is legit. You’ll either get an offer or nothing at all. I’ve gotten a few hard to find knives that way.

Proven safer , stronger and more reliable . :)

Not so better : customer service , fidget , bragging rights , premium materials , QC , GSM . :(
Haha, I don’t have anything against cold steel. I was just messing with ya. I don’t own any cause I’ve never found any personally appealing. I’ve heard they’re good quality for the money.

I don’t know that any of that’s been proven and is pretty subjective but you are right, my Emersons are dangerous 😉

Not to thread jack, but I like that cs is cheap enough to try a model here and there and if they don't work out you can give them to friends with no pain. That said I still have a SRK new in the bubble package lol. I'll open it one of these days

What about the Emerson CQC super 8.???? 4.2 or 4.3 inch blade and one of the best handles I've ever held....
Now I'm going to have to dig mine out for rotation😜

Keep the Bad Monkey. It's a better knife in terms of materials, construction and QC.
poor fit and finish isn't an excuse, I don't care if it's going to be used as a "work" knife.

Couldn’t agree more! I think I like my recon one better than both of the knives I posted about here and it was less than half the price!

Oh that does sound nice! I wouldn’t mind taking that off your hands o if you’re willing to sell lol

i think I’d keep the Southern Grind.

How much stabbing are you really going to do? It’s a tactical fantasy.
Ha ha very true. I wasn’t looking at it so much through a tactical lens but more of a practical lens.

Yeah the bad monkey does feel way more premium. I already find myself afraid of opening the Emerson too hard because I noticed if I do the lock stick is really bad

Because 300$ is alot of money to me and I want to be sure I’m happy with something before I spend that kind of money on a knife.
It is a lot of money to me as well that is why I make informed purchases and do not inconvenience individuals or businesses in the buying process. They all have overhead that determines how they pay their employees, themselves and all their bills and it's not fair to make them absorb and lose margins on buyer remorse or indecision.

So if you don't use them how do you know you will like them? Just by looking at them? Dealers don't have big margins like some may believe and a return can cost them the majority of the margin in the process so they may just break even on a return resell. They have overhead like any business, returns absorb their margins. It's too late but don't be that guy that justifies buying and returning.

Emerson makes mediocre knives that seem amazing due to their cult-like following. I think the fit and finish of the SG knives is “better”, but after getting sold and being a small company, who knows how long they will be around. Personally I prefer the SG because the G10 on Emerson’s is like sandpaper, and I don’t care for chisel ground 154cm.

Have you considered a spider monkey? That’s my SG knife of choice.
