[Counterfeit] Fallkniven F1, rusted (pics) quickly

I wanted to provide an update because Fallkniven customer service has been very helpful in this matter so far. They are going to examine the knife and now have the seller's information for any possible counterfeiting action they might take. It's my understanding from them that seller's typically receive these counterfeit knives for about $10 each. Given that the sale was for almost $120, I can only assume Jeff Hughes of Kaysville, UT knew he was selling counterfeit goods for a 110x markup! There are very few products that get sort of markup during the sales process.

Fallkniven customer service is once again lacking.

First there is no pictures of the fakes for comparison. Second, per their website there are only three places in the US listed as to "where to buy." I believe they are distributors and do not sell to the public. Benchmade, Spyderco, CRK, all list retailers on their sites so you know where to buy with confidence...not Fallkniven.

I suppose that's true, especially given the number of fakes out there you'd think there would be an approved retailers list.

I'm very happy to hear that FK is willing to take action against this rampant counterfeiting going on. I wish every knife maker would do so. Almost all of the major companies, and even
some small custom makers are getting victimized.

If there is rampant counterfeiting, a better way to approach it would be to have pictures of counterfeit knives on their site and a list of authorized dealers.

Going after one distributor does not do much, identifying what a counterfeit looks like and where to buy legitimate product protects your consumers and your dealers.

Atod, thanks for bringing this up. While I don't buy from eBay, it's a good cautionary tale for us all.
