CPK and Whisky (or other vices), a pictorial

Okay give me a good whiskey for beginner guys

I've tried a sipping tequila ... well limes came out and I wasn't sipping anymore lol

Hmmmm, that's a tough one. Whisk(e)y is like metal music - soooooo many sub genres and choices. You will like some, love some, hate others, and be disgusted by many.

My first experience with whisky was unpleasant - it was an Ardbeg 10 year single malt. It tasted like wood ash to me and I couldn't handle it. Now, these days, Islay whiskies are amongst my very favorites.

Unless you really, really like smoky flavors, I would not recommend an Islay Scotch for your first go (or any Scotch for that matter). If you don't mind paying a bit more of a premium, I would start with a good Irish like Redbreast 12 or Green Spot - smooth, mellow, and very, very drinkable. Castle Knappogue (12 year single malt) is another good Irish and I've converted a few anti-whiskey drinkers with that one.

The more you try things, the more your palate will develop and expand. Don't be discouraged if you try something and it just doesn't do it for you.

An easy, accessible, and inexpensive option (in my opinion) is Forty Creek Barrel Select. It is a light whiskey with some strong caramel notes and an easy finish. And best of all, if you don't love it, you aren't out a ton of money and it mixes well with pretty much any mixer. I like to recommend it because it is interesting enough to be more than just an easy whiskey, but also not assertive enough to be off-putting to people who haven't embraced whiskey yet. I feel similarly about Corner Creek Bourbon, but I (personally) find Forty Creek even more accessible.

Heaven Hill's "Bernheim Original Wheat Whiskey" is something that might appeal to those folks who gravitate toward the sweeter side of bourbon.

Very reasonably priced.
