FK2 vs FK2 “bad idea” Hard and Thin. I really couldn’t tell the difference by appearance but the “bad idea” is definitely slicier. Both amazing knives, for sure.

Much appreciation to the awesome OG CPKer that made this comparison possible. The forum is filled w/ many fine folks and we’re all fortunate for it

I’ve had both and decided to keep the “bad idea” edition. It’s my favorite all around user in the CPK line up. I’ve pushed pretty damn hard too, nothing foolish but I’ve batoned through hardwood and it laughs at it.

Throw on some duramax leather and it’s the best field/camp setup ever

When I first got my hard/thin version I held it with the regular flavor and was sure there was no difference between the 2 and that I was shipped the wrong knife haha. I had to hold them edge up to see it, and even then it’s very slight but noticeable.

Visually speaking on the harder/thinner version, the line where the primarily bevel begins almost touches the Carothers signature

IIRC, the BTE thickness on the standard version is .020 before sharpening and the thiner variation ~ .015 which pushed up that primary grind line right up to the signature. Something like that.
