Not exactly sure how a full grown man gets to be a 7lb poodles bitch but I’m thinking they inch up on ya over time. Early morning manly type time. 🙄

That is their clear expression of ownership and dominance.
"You mah bitch! Lay still an keep meh wahm, ho."

I feel your pain to a lesser degree right now.

My old buddy Max when I first got him 15 years ago.
Found out today he has cancer. We'll keep him comfortable as long as we can.

I’m so very sorry that you received such terrible news about Max’s health today.

Praying that you both will remain as comfortable as possible, for as long as possible.
🙏🙏🙏

Good day today. Yesterday was seven weeks Kobe's been here.

Just a few minutes ago I was taking him for a walk and ran into a neighbor who had an Australian Shepherd he and his wife are caring for temporarily.

As he and I chatted on either side of the road, the dogs eyed one another, with Kobe being the more "on alert" than the Aussie.

While we spoke, I heard Kobe's bark for the first time. A deep, powerful bark. He barked another couple of times during the time we were together. I wasn't expecting it and it was like music to my ears.

Finally, I let the dogs cautiously approach one another, with Kobe being in the more wary / aggressive posture trying to assert dominance. After a bit we were able to let them get closer, sniff, make a couple of tentative "play" snaps at one another and then chill. Kobe even sat and laid down at one point during the encounter. They would have been rolling had we let them go but we were on a gravel road, not conducive to more than a tentative meeting.

Progress made today. Feels good that he's emerging.

More good news...

My neighbor who lost his dog, (Skyler's pal), four or five days after we said goodbye to her, adopted a nice looking young male yesterday, about a year old. Handsome mixed breed, light brindle coat and looks like some Weimaraner or maybe Vizsla genes. About 40 lbs at a guess.

Introduced them through a hurricane fence and after being satisfied that nobody wanted to kill the other, entered the yard, left them on leads for a few minutes, separated, and then let them go. They had a blast running like banshees, rolling, tumbling, wrestling, and generally having a great time.

I brought a Nylabone over for the new guy as we've got a bunch. He loved it.

Neither dog was jealous of the other getting attention and you couldn't have asked for better.

A bark yesterday, a new best friend today, named "Rocky".

That's great to hear that Kobe is adjusting in his forever home. And glad he has a new buddy to run and wrestle with sometimes.
