Kobe had another "anxiety" or "phobic" incident just before 5 a.m. where he crawled under the bed and didn't want to come out. It was easier to coax him out this time. I honestly don't know if it's related to weather, (rain, sounds), pressure drop, or some combination and anal gland.

Gave him Trazodone for the first time (as opposed to gabapentin). Took a while for him to settle and he was a bit out of it this morning when I took him out. (He's sleeping right now on the couch.)

Gaba seems to work well with him when I've used it for anxiety or pain...I'll have to see how the Trazodone works.

I hate medicating him at all...but something's up.

Sorry, E., hope he feels better soon and that you guys get more sleep.

We give our older guy Gabapentin about once a week now, for thunderstorms that happen regularly here. He's getting even more sensitive to noise as he gets older, but Gaba helps.

Apparently, the two meds are often prescribed together. Trazodone is more directly related to anxiety and behavioral issues, where with Gaba it's sort of a side benefit to the primary nerve and pain issue reduction.

Guess I'll know which works best as time goes on. My short term thought, (as it's only been hours), is that Gaba doesn't make him seem as lethargic or out of it, but it's not even 5 hours since he was given a dose.

Anyway...

Sad to hear this, I hope you can get something figured out

He was on a diet, BTW. Proud to have him down to 90 pds, the ideal weight as per our vet (Ti hips and all …).
