To put a cap on a perfect day, Kobe had another of his anxiety related events last night around 1 a.m. Gave him a couple of gabapentin, stayed up soothing him until they kicked in, (about an hour to hour and a half), and he seems much more himself this morning.

Don't know what triggers him. I think he's just mental. (Like his "dad".)

I'm glad he has a good owner that is taking good care of him. It's good to see someone taking that stewardship seriously.

When I hear people talk about dogs like inanimate objects or in a disposable fashion it really pisses me off (obviously, that isn't on this forum). They're living, emotional, intelligent beings that deserve love and respect.

Kobe is lucky to have found you!

I agree with carnifex knifeworks carnifex knifeworks . He is lucky to have a good home now. It’s unfathomable how people can fail animals. I’m dealing with the new rescue donkey that was clearly mistreated by someone early in her life. Luckily she has taken to my wife and allows her to halter and pet her. But she is very suspicious of me. She will follow me around and is interested in what I’m doing but keeps, what she believes to be, a safe distance. She sees how our other donkey is excited to see me and comes over for attention. She will only allow me to pet her when my wife is there and has her on a halter and rope. The worst part is that she really enjoys getting pets and scratches when she is “forced” to and really leans into it and relaxes. So, I feel bad that she can’t bring herself to approach me on her own. All in good time. But why someone would get an animal and abuse them is beyond me. She does get along good with the other donkey which is the most important thing so that is good.
