your sheath looks great- there are some definite advantages to a fully enclosed sheath for a khuk, depending on what your objectives are.Sign me up for one as well please..
Can't wait to see the knife and what sheath designs you guys come up with. I like the look of full leather but it holds moisture so not a very good option long term. Not sure if it's appropriate to share the picture of one I made before here, if it is let me know
For a second, I thought, "is that an arm, or a leg?"Here you go, hopefully not bad for a first attempt at a full size sheaths. Thanks for the encouragements
That’s what she said…..For a second, I thought, "is that an arm, or a leg?"

My goal of making a fullly enclosed sheath was firstly for positive retention and secondly aesthetic and thirdly maybe to challenge myself a bit as it was harder to make then an open spine sheath. The kuk fits life a glove and the draw is smooth without the clicking sound of kydex. I have a home made kydex press but it can only fit about a 5 in blade max.your sheath looks great- there are some definite advantages to a fully enclosed sheath for a khuk, depending on what your objectives are.
I'd like to address the assertion that because leather holds moisture it's not a good option long term. It certainly can be true, and often is, but I'd argue is not universally true. It all depends on how the leather is prepared and how the sheath is designed. There are a lot of approaches to working with leather, and some can lead to incredibly long life and weather resistance, while actually preserving the integrity of the blade inside. I think a sheath should be the ideal storage unit for your blade, creating an environment that discourages corrosion, that's one of my objectives anyway
Indeed. Quiet is better.I always liked the felt lining that Winkler has in his kydex sheaths. Smooth and quiet, the retention is as good as any other.
I have steel being made for this project nowNow what?
How thick did you end up going?I have steel being made for this project now

Pumped to see this. Hopefully it ends up being slicey vs choppy for thickness and grind!
I've only recently gotten a knife with it and am convinced it's superior. Seems to get grippier when wet.I've never tried Tero Tuff
