CPKhuk

Terotuf, Vintage Micarta. I really like the tried and true feeling of Terotuf, but I'm tempted by vintage micarta. I don't know how much of a real world difference there is in chopping.
If you have the extra cash get both set of scales. I got TeroTuff and an extra set of double black canvas micarta. The price for the extra set is more than the listed price in the sale though, so check with them first if you need to. Just my two cents.

🤘🍺🤘

I'm officially broke now.

It's going to be ramen at my house for a while. By ramen, I mean the kids are going to eat ramen. I'm still going to eat steak.

One time when I was a child I ate two cups of ramen noodles.
Then went to bed. Unfortunately I had picked up a stomach bug.
I shot up middle of the night and projectile vomited onto the carpet.
My brother happened to be walking down the hall to the restroom and heard the splashing of vomit impact.
He found me mid-projectile and I told him to get mom.

I slept in the basement while the carpet was replaced.
I don’t eat ramen anymore.

Oh man, I take a few weeks off of browsing the forums and miss out on a knife I have been stalking since April 2021… 😞.
This was going to be my first CPK, do they do second batches or is secondary my only shot?
Nate’s usual practice is to order enough steel for the preorder, and extra to have some available for Friday sales, as they start becoming available, so your chances are good that you’ll see some pop up in Friday sales as they begin shipping. How many? No idea. Will they be the preorder price? Also no idea, but distinct possibility of him coming to his senses and making the sale price a bit more to Matt Gregory’s liking. Not 100%, but a bit more 😅

hi folks, I'm putting out feelers to gauge interest in a leather scabbard for your preordered khuk.

From what I understand, these knives will come with a kydex scabbard, and knowing the CPK commitment to excellence like I do, I suspect they will be top notch. But, I also know that a lot of folks love them a nice leather sheath just because. To that end, I will definitely be designing a leather scabbard for this khuk and will make at least one for myself- because I'm one of those people lol.

The leather scabbards I have in mind will be made from 10oz leather- my typical sheaths are 8/9oz, so these will be extra robust. They'll be a lot like my regular work, but will be lock stitched instead of my usual hand stitching.

If I'm going to be making these suckers in any kind of volume, I'm going to have to buy me a sewing machine. That means I'll have to make 20-30 of them in a single batch, which will get me a ways toward paying off the machine.

Nathan and I have talked about this a bit, and he's kindly agreed to take a shipment of a batch of sheaths, which should be a little easier for me to navigate through the tariff hell that inexplicably exists at our border. Once the preorder khuks start becoming available, Jo can add your leather scabbard to your order so everything shows up at the same time.

The way it would work is that I would invoice whoever wants one, and pass along their contact info to Jo. I'm not sure exactly how I'll arrange payment, but I'm thinking I'd send out the invoicing as soon as the scabbards arrive safely at CPK HQ because I do not want any bad feelings if I'm holding on to other people's money and something goes sideways. Refunding $ is a pain in the ass which I want to avoid.

I'm not 100% on what these units would cost, but let's take a rough guess and peg it between $250-$350. As always, I'd take payment via PP G&S.

If you're interested, feel free to post it here or DM me. This isn't a firm commitment by any means, but if enough people are interested it makes a strong case for me to buy a sewing machine and gets me that much closer to pulling the trigger.

Sorry for the wall of text! Thanks for reading if you made it this far 😊

Lorien, I’d be down for a leather KUK sheath from you! That would be one wicked combo! In!
